mages with wepon attack?

would it be ok for a lvl30 mage to have a 8 attack wg? is weapon att bad for mages? or do they mostly need magic att?

If you're new to maple, which you sound like you are, Mages don't need any weapon attack, sell the glove for 35-40mil and get yourself some good mage equips.

Mages rely on INT and Magic ATK. Look at your MAGIC right under your damage range to see your magic attack

[/quote] Because you may need to poke something during training. That's all. I.E; in some RPG series, like Final Fantasy, you can regularly attack with mages (stabbing your weapon against monsters). This action only deals 10% dmg. on monsters comparing to regular attacking classes.
