What really IS 8x?

| Intrigued by the posts in this . Specifically:
DosE : I guess you haven't passed Algebra yet. 2x signifies 2*x, x = exp. 2x*2x = 4x 2x*2x*2x = 8x
Let x be experience So if 2x = 2 * x Then 2x * 2x * 2x = 2 * x * 2 * x * 2 * x = 2 * 2 * 2 * x * x * x That is 2 times exp times 2 times exp times 2 times exp You can probably tell what is wrong from my sentence above already, but it you don't. If we simplify the polynomial above we get 8x^3 We don't actually get 8x^3, so the correct way of writing it out in numbers would be x * 2 * 2 * 2 which is 8x |

| It's not 2*x... It's 2x -____-" x being a variable for exp. 2x*2x=4x*2x=8x, you don't multiply the x. |

| People just can't do math. People should know they are multiplied not added together. |

| The ts has made it too complicated. wtf polynomial? you expect basiliers to understand that ? 2*2=4 2*2*2=8 simples |

|
BloodyBooger : you really needed to make a thread about this nerds? including yourself, big deal...
If I read this wrong I am sorry. There is nothing wrong with being a nerd. Nerds are very intelligent and have a much higher success rate at getting into a college, which translates into high chance of getting a job. With a good job comes good pay, and they will be the one with the "life", while you work your ass off because you were to busy laughing at nerds. |

You multiply the exp bonuses. Otherwise, as you stated, you'd need 4 sources of 2x to get 8x... In reality you only need 3. HENCE: 2x*2x*2x=8x When did I say x was a power? Your logic fails. If you had enough logic, you'd see mine fails too. You'd also see mine is closer. It's really 2x*2*2 whereas the variables after the first x are removed, after which [Edit:] the 2's after the first 2 just become enhancers to the first variable. |

| I guess the argument is. The last 2x doubles the existing 4x, thus making 8x ... while others say 2x + 2x = 4x BUT you're simply adding another 2x to the equation, thus making 4x + 2x = 6x. Either way, I leech. I win anyway. |

| When they say 2X, they dont say just 2x but 2X EXP, meaning the X stands only for 'times' And if you consider x to be the experience, you should think that experience is a solid number, and you multiply 2x by 2 every time, like xChaosBndit said. Example: Someone gets 2x from an event and uses a 2x exp card from cash shop. Say this person gets an exp rate of 6m exp per hour. You use the formula x* (2)^n whereas n is how much times you get double experience. Since in this example one gets 2X EXP twice, the formula becomes x* (2)^2 = x*4 = 4x whereas x would be 6m/hr in this example. Enhance this example with 3 times a 2X EXP possibility and you get 8 times the regular experience gain. I dont think i will look back on this thread, so flame if you like, i dont really care. |

| Seriously people, not that hard. Let x = exp (Remember is a variable, hence it VARIES) with a 2x card you get 2*exp If you activate your family reps, it will give you 2x, x being the NEW exp, so 2*(2*exp) If you activate the skill thingy (If it can be activated with the family reps) it would be 2x, x being the NEW exp, so 2*(2*(2*exp))) That would yield 8*exp. This is all algebra 1. There is no integrals, differentials, nothing just common multiplying. |
The 2x does not double the existing number. Say you double 2 and you get 4, so 2 * 2 = 4 But 2 * 2x = 4x 4x is not the double of 2 We can check by 2 + 2 = 4 and 4 =/= 4x You have to multiply like terms together. When we have 2^2 it's 2 * 2, so it makes sense that x ^ 3 is x * x * x which is what a lot of people write when they say 2x * 2x * 2x |

| Unless u use power rules in this matter. 2x*2x= 4x^2. You bring the power down so it would be (2)4x^2-1. Hence it will become 8x |

| I don't get it. 2x does not mean 2 times by x. If people multiply them = 2x x 2x x 2x = 8x^4 <-- lol? And if people add them = 2x + 3x = 5x exp? << super lol? IGNORE THE x, and just multiply the number. 2 x 2 x 2 is 8. You get 8x experience. 2 x 3 is 6. You get 6x experience. |
