My friend has just been hacked, I have some questions.

Hello Basil, Just about 10 minutes ago, one of my friends got hacked. The reasons why I am posting this topic are: 1. I want to find out wth happened and how to prevent it. 2. I want to warn my fellow maplers So here is what happened. To put it short and simple, he d/c'd (something that is not rare to him) then he logged in again and said: "wth all my stuff is gone". As I read some threads about for instance this RAT thing, I started asking what he has done lately, only thing he could come up with was that a few days ago he automatically downloaded a plug-in when he wanted to watch a short movie on the internet. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I would like to know if someone has an idea what could have happened and if it has happened before. Thanks a lot in advance, Grammont

well its me who got hacked. i got an link for a merch vid in my shop so i were curious. so i went to the site and noticed i needed to downloaded new flash thing. then i closed the site. but it has automaticly downloaded a plug-in. so first thing i did is a boot-scan with my virus scanner and i couldnt find anything so thought the keylogger or W/E was in the flash update. and after 3 days (today) i got hacked in like 5 mins.

hmm I thought that because of the new PIC things it would be at least harder to be hacked... I mean didn't the PIC's add anything? or at least make it harder for longer then like a week... I kinda hoped that we wouldn't see any hackings for a few months after the PIC's where released..

Whew, thank god it wasn't some post saying how he got hacked without telling info and was inactive for years. OT:Well no idea. Probably didn't happen? But honestly everyones gonna say "It cant happen" which I'll have to agree to. UNLESS Someone had your info. Someone used Dc hack to DC him Someone then took the stuff

[/quote] Well PIC's would make it harder for a program to crack the pass/pin since the PIC can be longer and have more values. But if you were to get a keylogger, you would be hacked anyways seeing no matter how complex the password is, the keylogger would simply only have to record it and sent it to the hacker.

[/quote] With PIC's it seems to be even worse.. since u dont need your bday anymore to remove a char -.- so when u get hacked say bb to your chars also
