One Piece is supposedly one of the better animes out there but I don't see what's so great about it. The protagonist is a guy that's hyperactive, he looks really strange, and his "magical", "special" ability is that he could stretch his arms and legs. What...? What's so appealing about that? It's nothing new. One Piece's opening + ending themes aren't good at all. It has music that's just weird and the video is just kind of boring. The opening is something that's suppose to draw me into the anime but it just doesn't. The manga goes on longer than Naruto. Are you guys still interested in it? I've watched maybe one or two episodes. Meh... Anyways is there something I'm missing? What do you guys see in the anime that I don't?
xCrownClownx : That wasn't great at all in my opinion. They have DBZ style animations, pretty old. The fighting was kind of lame, nothing really special about it. It just seems old and un-epic ;3
Okey dont watch it. /thread

When I was little, the show first aired. It reminds me of the values of friendship, courage, and basically life. The unending journey refers back to our lifes, I enjoy seeing someone over come problems in their lives and continue in it.

i like how the TS judges all the OP/ED when he's only on episode 2 and iirc the fight up to episode 2 was luffy vs that fat lady pirate.

the conspiracy of the world govt in OP is what gets me. not like you'd understand though. you need to give the show a chance to try and get it all. like all the mysteries and what could possibly go on after this whole whitebeard war. storyline is too good to be considered even close to mediocre.

Like i dont know if maybe i missed it but they didnt say that ace was rogers son until like how far into the mangas? that is really one of the single most important things in the manga. one piece brings surprises like all animes, except at the most unexpected times, as well as the surprises are veryyyy surprising. also at most protagonist being dumb, there are different types of intelligences. Just b/c u arent booksmart doesnt mean your stupid. all protagonist like that, Goku, luffy, naruto (more goofy) are all very clever and battle smart. its ezier said than done, but when your fighting for others, your at limit, your opponent is much stronger than you, and if you make the wrong move ur life is over, can you still keep your cool and think clearly? personally i dont even know myself. They combine instinct and think smart and on their toes at the same time. that is much harder than it sounds.

All I gotta say is that One Piece owns. I suggest you watch a few more episodes (not 1 or 2 eps out of 400 something) and see if you still hate it or not. If you do, then you just don't prefer the style of One Piece, so find another anime to watch. Different people have different preferences so some, like me, will love One Pieces, and others, like you, may hate it.

*Ahem* On its outside cover, One Piece may look stupid, boring, un-epic, and totally un-unique, but good sir, you are highly mistaken. You see, One Piece is more than just a "weird guy" looking for some treasure. What makes One Piece so amazing is the character background developments and the crazy fun fanatics of the main characters, along with their very unique powers. Luffy, the main character, ate a DEVIL FRUIT named the gum-gum fruit. This fruit turned his whole body into rubber, and thus gives him the ability to stretch parts of his body. This aspect is the first thing a person seems to look at when they consider the One Piece anime, a weird guy who can stretch because he's like rubber. In reality, this is the farthest thing from a persons mind when watching One Piece. These abilities from the devil fruits are just for the sake of action, just like in Dragonball Z where everyone has chi blasts and stuff in order for the sake of action. It is just the addition needed for the action. Unlike dragonball Z, where it only focuses on pure fighting power and exaggerating the characters strengths, One Piece actually puts into consideration each characters background and purpose for all their actions. We all love to watch luffy fool around and do stupid stuff because that is his personality, a fun enjoyable air headed guy. No one can make someone laugh more than luffy can. This completely simple-minded fellow is able to see the most important things in life and displays it with his actions. He shows courage, friendship, and teaches us many lessons someone should live by. He may be simple-minded but he knows his justice! And when he sees someone in trouble, he cannot ignore them! He uses all of his strength just to save that one person. And this immense struggle, along with the dramatic scenes, and the emphasis on the target's background, is what makes One Piece so enjoyable. At the end of every arc, after luffy defeats the strongest villain there was, right before, it goes through many dramatic important scenes that depict the primary SIGNIFICANCE of luffy winning. All of this stuff happened, "this person got hurt, this person was captured, this person cried because of him, this person will die if i don't win, I have to win" those are the primary thoughts before the ending of a battle. And depicting these thoughts brings the viewers into an amazing emotional ride that just makes you think "YEA LUFFY DO IT WOOH! :D" And it's not only luffy that's struggling for justice, but everyone on the One Piece crew! None of that would be possible without the great character development that is put into One Piece. Each character has their own personal, touching background. These backgrounds are the driving force for the characters main actions. It is what lead them to where they are now. All these elements that are added to One piece; the character background, the hilarious reactions of characters, each characters unique personality, and the desire for justice wi
