Trying to solo Capt. Latanica at lvl 65

I'm a level 65 spearman and for the last 3 days I've been trying to defeat the level 100 boss. Alone. I have gotten his hp down to about 25-30%, but at some point I always take two big hits too quickly, and die. Thank the patissier for heart chocolate. From now on it will be even harder since my most recent attempt took my last Gelt. I would have needed two of those! I'm now planning to use Onyx Apples with Witch's Special Stew. If I take the stew first, then the apple's attack will overlap the stew's attack, right? But, will the apple's low +20 def also replace the stew's higher +100 def, or will the higher number prevail? But what if I take the apple first? Would the stew's +40 attack then replace the apple's +100 attack or not? In any case, I accept help in collecting red essence and killing those Mr. Anchors... And if anyone could spare me an Onyx Apple... or three, that would be cool, haha... I could pay for them too, but I don't have time for auctions. But! I won't accept help in the fight. It's between me and the cappn'.

How about you get an apple, and if you need weapon def. get a zhelm. Or you could get those bags from ludi that give defense.

If you use the stew first and then the apple, the apples effect, w.attack and defence, will override the stews effect, whether its higher or not, it doesn't matter. Same thing if its the other way around

Right, zhelm would certainly help me survive. If anyone has that in Bera, I could buy it for a reasonable price. I have no NX for a SoK. I already have stew left from halloween, but I need apples. And thanks for the info rangedanger9.

no, witch stew and onyx apples dont overlap. If you use one, then the other, they may both show, because they give different stats. In other words, use if you use a stew, then an apple, your only getting the speed boost from the stew. the attack boost from the apple cancels out the attack boost from the stew. Several others are right, if you dont have a zhelm yet, that would be a better investment at this point than apples to beat a boss.

Not worth it man, the money you'll spend in pots and in apples isn't worth the exp, nor the drops.
