Teachers Who Teach Using Videos

How do you feel about teachers who use videos to convey what they want to teach? Could this be laziness or a better strategy than the traditional board/discussion type of teaching? I'm asking because Bill Nye The Science Guy will shank me if I don't.

I think it helps tremendously, esp. if they're not only videos, but simulations.

All I can say is that I hate the internet for what it's done to me. I'd be too distracted to watch. EDIT: OH YOU MEAN LIKE VHS AND DVD. Yeah, they cool. They cool. We had a pretty nice balance of video learning and textbook learning when I was in K-12.

My physics teacher uses videos to show us concepts that would be really hard to demonstrate with the school's (lack of) equipment. o-o

Simply, sometimes videos teach better than the teacher could.

i think it's useful because like 60% of the students in my bio class tend to fall asleep while the teacher is teaching. but when theres a video, most of the students wake up. also most of us can't really understand what our teacher is saying, so the video is just to show what she's trying to say.?

I think its a waste of time. I understand material better if the teacher actually does his/her job and teaches. Videos sometimes make things more complicated because teachers tend to teach it a little then the video does it in a completely different way. Teachers should stick to their material.

Depends. If the video is used sparingly in the teacher's method of lecturing, it can be a very effective teaching tool. Otherwise, I see a video as a disguise for "lol idk wat else to teech u so i put on a vid to wayst tiem while lokin productif" most of the time. ie. physics vid

sometimes its easier to show someone something than it is to tell them about it. a picture is worth a thousand words. if they do it all the time tho, they're not doing right by you. lazy bums...
