You need to do water changes and filter changes, besides "cleaning the tank"

[/quote] Well if you have a heavily planted tank(going to look like a dense jungle underwater), you could have the plants absorb ammonia and nitrates for you so you could slack on water changes, but you would still have to do them once in a while and keeping so many plants healthy takes up time You needa replenish minerals into your tank(ex. snail shells will get soft if they dont get enough calcium) And for filter, in almost all cases you do unless you have very little fish in comparison the tank size and you decide to get beneficial bacteria from stuff like gravel or floating bio media(biological filtration) and you wouldn't get the benefit of mechanical and chemical filtration, plus the tank won't look that good if there are that little fish :O U can get sponge filters for a few dollars, ppl supposedly use them for raising baby fish since they don't suck fish in and they catch debris that the fish can eat O yea and for the pleco(suckermouth)/cory thing: They can clean up by eating leftover food, but the more they clean up, the more they poop and they don't eat their own poop. Also, a common pleco(ones you regularly see) can 12" or bigger so it'll get too big for a smaller tank. There are hundreds of plecos("L" numbers such as L144 = bristlenose pleco), bristlenose and clown plecs are pretty cheap and they don't get too big :D

[/quote] No. All fish need regularly (at least changed once a week) circulating water so that the tank does not become too acidic for them to survive. While there are fish that eat algae off tanks, that doesn't account for the accumulation of nitrogen in the water that fish release through nitrogen fixation. If you're willing to spend money, you could buy a culture of cyanobacteria at a pet store to put into the tank. You wouldn't have to change the water as frequently.
