Are people tolerant to homosexuality where you live?

A gay friend of mine had his valentines day( from female friends >.>) present pasted on his locker. And today at dismissal, somebody had broken it and wrote all over his locker " for being a fa____" (Use imagination). >.>

no, not at all i go to a school with students aged 14-18 ranging from all walks of society and not one (that i've heard of anyway) has ever came out to be gay; nobody has even claimed to be bisexual. i haven't heard of any cases of homosexuality in other schools either. people are just too afraid to come out (raises hand) or it's due to the fact that nobody has had any encounters with homosexuality in their lifetimes therefore they wouldn't know if they were feeling it or how to address it either way it sucks

My school's diversity is sort of well known. o-o Principal would go crazy if we weren't tolerant of everybody. also we had some people from the westboro baptist church outside our school last year protesting. They were mad that we accepted gays or something./

i live in New Orleans and you see some pretty flameboyant gay people here in the French Quarter. but if smiling and nodding is what you call tolerant...then yes

I live in a scary conservative christian hick-ville where parents take their kids out of school to go hunting up north in the winter. I think that pretty much explains itself.

Yea, but obviously people say, "that's gay", because I'm in high school. But I'd say we're pretty tolerant, if someone was really homophobic they'd be shunned I think o.o

At my middle school and high school (private religious), definitely not. But because most teens have not developed a real sense of responsibility or maturity, I would expect it to be like that in almost every high school. Most of the state of Massachusetts on the otherhand, especially in college environments, thats another story. Not most people are very tolerable about it, but people look down upon those that are intolerable. As an adult living in Massachusetts, its alot harder to be a gay hater than to be gay yourself. Granted we live in the most liberal state in the country and the first to legalize same-sex marriage 6 years ago, so that could influence why most people here are very tolerable of it. I am so freaking glad I live in this state over some other conservative redneck state in the south.

The majority of the local community is pretty conservative, but the large Jewish population here (myself included) is pretty tolerant. The girls in my school also tend to be a lot more tolerant than the guys. When I told my friend two of my cousins are gay he backed away like he was afraid of me suddenly. I later called him a homophobe and he didn't react as if he wanted to even deny it.
