Hello. This isn't comedy or anything, this is true. My friend's mom(Lucas) had cancer. In her last three days, she couldn't recognize anyone (she didn't know who anyone was, she didn't recognize Lucas as his son, she didn't know who he was). She was always nice, always took care of us when we were in Elementary School, and she was awesome. I still can't believe this happened... no one can. From what I know, little to none people know about this. That is, me, my friend(Klin), Klin's mom(who knew because she is nosy)Lucas, Lucas' dad, and his dad's close friends (I assume). I need two advices on what to do. First, how to "comfort" him, making him sure that he's got me if he needs something, want to talk to someone, etc. I don't want him to feel alone. Second, if I should tell my mom. My mom knew Lucas' dad, and probably will do something if she knows about that, but I don't know what could happen if she gets the information from someone else, and she then realizes that I knew about this. From what Lucas told me, he wants to spend time with his dad, so he doesn't feel alone. I asked him if he was alright, and he said he already accepted the fact that she died. He sounded depressed, not as energetic as usual (Skype). He doesn't want everyone to know about this, he told me to not to tell anyone. Klin's mom knew because she knew she had cancer, so the day I was on his house, he asked how she was. We didn't have an option, we had to tell her, and we did. I'm going on a trip on Thursday, and school starts after that, so if I have to do something, I have to do it now. I just... really don't know what to do. Her mom suffered a lot the last hours, and died yesterday. What should I do...?

perplexEDIT: Thread wiped. I'll post my suggestions again for the sake of keeping on topic. Take him outside, don't let him mope around home all day. He will feel better in time.

I wouldn't tell your mom, your friend did specifically said he doesn't want anyone knowing. Respect his wishes, eventually he will be open about the discussion. On a side note just be good friend, don't treat him differently because of what had happened but be more considerate as well. Try to cheer him up, make him laugh, create some happy memories that will help him overcome the tragic lost. Good luck
