Nexon's Response to our comments on the LA times article

HI all as you all know i've been trying to rally to troops of hacked victims into commenting and writing into the LA times article hoping that after writing such a positive article they would speak WITH the players and write a second article about player experience and the recent issues which are being ignored and not adressed. anyway The author of that LA times article wrote back to me with nexon's statement, here it is Well, this was the response I got back from Nexon's spokesman: We all saw them this morning and were very bummed out that the vocal minority came out. MapleStory does elicit a good bit of passion and if we even have the smallest blips, like even having service interruptions for maintenance, people jump through the roof. My experience with online gaming is that people complain about even things they like. But we really do take customer concerns to heart and, like I said in the earlier email, we want to make sure that we do everything we can to eliminate issues that create negative experiences for our players. Edit: yeah i'm kind of upset at the "small minority" its not like 1-10 ppl where hacked, it was quite a large number of people en mass in the last few weeks. To me thats significant. Also keep in mind when leaving a comment to be as eloquent and descriptive as possible. They dont know wat "dc hack" is or "fm hacks" or other in game slang but i think every bit counts and they emailed me back a few times so they are seemingly keeping in touch with the issue. anyway good luck peeps. Edit: someone said i complained to a newspaper? well actually nexon linked this in their twitter, This was a positive article written about their business model by the LA times a major media outlet, Media pressure does a whole lot of things and if their going to push us under the rug (posting about being hacked recently will get ur thread closed on the official nexon forums, which i think is ridiculous) why can't we ask for the media who is PRAISING them to consider our point of view also? anyway i came across it after they linked it and emailed the authors just asking if they even KNEW about the game and about the recent en masse hacking and of course they were intrigued and forwarded my concerned to nexon, there on, many more comments were put up by other users experiencing similar issues. It can't hurt to try, maybe they'll at least acknowledge an issue if theirs a little media pressure.

[/quote] Still, complaining about your hard earned items/levels being torn from you is completely different than complaining about not being able to obtain the said hard earned levels/items. The point is that nexon is apparently grouping legit complaints with the standard whining people have as an excuse to ignore it. They also claim that it is only a vocal minority (minorities are neglectable in business) as another excuse to not do a thing... Although they state they will try to make the game a better exp, that is only a half truth. They will only make it better if that brings them more money. Sadly, making the game worse seems to be more profitable than making it better.

Well they did replace the pin system with something way better. What do you guys want from them? Give you Lv200 characters with the godliest equips and a piece of pie. I got hacked also but I'm not whining nor complaining, instead I used my energy on rebuilding my character not whining to Nexon about something they really don't have any control over. There was no database leak that just a silly rumour most of us got keylogged. I suspect we got them from sites like basil and sleepywood. I gotta admit hackers are getting smarter. Its not like they are ignoring the situation they are doing the best they can.

[/quote] I do agree that this is standard procedure for corperations and governments, but such a thing is less than ideal. We shouldnt just accept such things.
