Update: Update has been extended for 1 additional hour. We are now scheduled to open at 10:00 AM (Pacific) / 1:00 PM (Eastern). Update: Update has been extended for 2 additional hours. We are now scheduled to open at 9:00 AM (Pacific) / 12:00 PM (Eastern). Update: Update has been extended for 1 additional hour. We are now scheduled to open at 7:00 AM (Pacific) / 10:00 AM (Eastern). Update: Update has been extended for 2 additional hours. We are now scheduled to open at 6:00 AM (Pacific) / 9:00 AM (Eastern). Thank you for your patience. MapleStory will be going through a scheduled game update on Wednesday, February 10th, 2010. This update involves all game servers, and will last for approximately 6 hours. Times BT: 2:00 - 14:00 PST: 12:00 am - 12:00 pm EST: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm The following will be updated Login Procedure Change MapleStory will be changing the method for starting the game (Official Site). To prepare for this change, MapleStory will have an update this week that will make a change to the login procedure for the game. When you log into MapleStory for the first time after 2/10/2010, you will be prompted to create a PIC (Personal Identification Code) on the Character Select screen. After you have a PIC you will no longer need to enter your old PIN at login. A few notes on PICs: 1. PICs can be 6 to 16 characters long. 2. I'm guessing they're doing this because of all the people getting hacked. Maybe they've found out how people are getting hacked and Nexon found the solution?

Pic is basically another password. 2 passwords are better than one. passwords are harder to crack than pins.

new login system will be fine dont worry. KMS always used it. Also i like the PICs as long as we can type it with keyboard. And last thing i like is that it will work with Google Chrome ^^

I predict even more people getting hacked right after the patch if they remove PINs... since some people might have other people's infos but not their PIN...

Umm... some of you need to pay more attention when you read things. You'll have to enter your PIN first to even make it to the PIC creation section, and only once the PIC is made will the PIN no longer be needed. Says it right there. I have nothing against a second password, it's more secure.

I like the second password idea. PINs only have a thousand possibilities for hackers to try to to guess, the PICs can have anywhere from 56 billion to... I don't even know what the number's name is. 47 and 27 0s. I really doubt that hackers will be guessing a decent PIC any time soon, especially if you stack it on top of a password that has the same number of possibilities. And maybe they'll make you type your PIC the same way you type your PIN and make the hackers suffer even more. Muahahahahaha~! ^.^

Will it be harder for european players to get in game? Because when I go to Nexon's website it says that I should go to some other maplestory website. I can get to website but it takes couple minutes everytime..
