Are expensive things better?

Hey guise :D So, just to be clear, this is MY opinion and MY experiences and the facts that I have discovered. I have noticed that a lot of people tend to buy expensive things because they think that they are better. Expensive clothes, expensive electronics, expensive makeup, etc. And most of the time, I don't see the point. I own both expensive and VERY cheap clothes, and honestly, no difference in material or quality. Sure, I might pay more for a better design and fit if I can't find any better, but as for quality...I've never had any of my clothes fall apart in the wash (except for a few pairs of underwear because the washing machines at school are freaking monsters). As for electronics, sometimes I would say that the more expensive the better. Like for electronics, I've gone through like a bazillion digital cameras because they failed on me (cheapo cameras) until I decided to actually buy a good one. And as for makeup, you basically just have to look at ingredients and try things out. Obviously there are cheap things that are going to suck, but sometimes you can find some awesome stuff that works amazingly and are cheap too :O So sometimes, I know it's none of my business but, it makes me rage when people are like "oh I bought dis shirtz, it's $230 i so ballin'." Well guess what, your shirt is ugly. Being expensive doesn't make it look any better. Discussion: Do you buy expensive things? If so, why? Do you think expensive things are always better quality?

I only buy expensive things if there isn't a cheap alternative. Sometimes the quality is better.

Clothes are never worth the price tag. 2 pairs of jeans, 2 shirts, and a jacket fur life :] Electronics really depend on what you need. Computers I prefer customizing my own, optomizing cost-efficiency. Headphones, ear gear, music players I gear up toward the higher end because sound quality really matters to me. As for anything else, I don't care. As high end as I can afford I suppose.

You're paying more for a brand that's trusted by more people that may or may not be necessarily better. What can you say though, we're a materialistic society. Some people tend to flounder on expensive things for social status. Me? If I know it's actually "better", then sure. Otherwise, I'm sticking with the lower end of the cash budget.

depends on what you're buying/what you need out of it. for electronics i usually read reviews and watch videos comparing things before i actually make a decision. i don't mind paying the extra buck for the premium product though for clothes...most of the shirts i like were $15 off online stores. jeans are like $20 levis. whatever i like/is comfortable. i think it's pretty ridiculous that people spend so much cash on clothes to answer the 2nd question, expensive things aren't always better. things can be expensive because of a certain status, not the quality of the product

I don't buy 'expensive' things cause they aren't any better than non expensive stuff.

Expensive stuff generally is better quality than cheaper stuff obviously, but the quality gap in many cases isn't HUGE. Ex: A $500 Epiphone les paul sounds similar to a $1000 Gibson les paul, but the Gibson is made with better material and has a better tone, but not a significantly better tone.

[/quote] I wouldn't say the same for clothes though. I mean, you could buy a $100 brand named shirt that's paper thin, or you can get a 100% thick cotton shirt at Wal-Mart for like $10. Typically you would only pay for the design or the label. |

Lol, so naive. It just depends <- That's the answer It depends where you get your material. It could be cheap and great or cheap and awful. It could expensive and good or expensive and awful. Like I said, it depends where or how you get the item. EDIT: It depends on what your buying whether it's clothes, instruments, food, etc
