None are "better". Although Lukless is more cost efficient.

@Above: You're wrong. In terms of efficiency/ damage, Luckless are better. There's no turn around to that.

Lukless is always better. Take this from someone who had both a reg-luk f/p and a lukless f/p.

Pshhhh you silly peoples. 125 Base luk and proud of it Probably wasn't the wisest choice, but it's not to say that it makes that big of a difference. Honestly, you're going to have to spend a lot of money being a fire-poison one way or another (Potions for meteor, skill books, elemental-weapons, z-helms, targa hats, scarlion hats, deputy stars, horntail pendants, MoNs, etc.) Lukless pretty much results in you having a limited amount of equips you can wear, but gives you more mp, and more int (more magic so more damage) Normal luk/ low luk ( i guess): lets you have a wider variety of equips to wear, but you'll have less mp and int However, with the maker skill (being a normal luk), you can add much much much more int/luk/m.attk on your already awesome equips. For example: With an advanced wisdom crystal, a Dark Varuna could have 10 int, 3 luk, and 10 slots, + that awesome def/m.def that might just save you. There's so many different ways to look at it, but in the end, it's all based on your own beliefs, opinions, funding, server, assistance, whatever. And if you plan on getting to an archmage, sure that damage you get from being a lukless will definitely make the difference between a 1hk0, 2hk0 or even 3hk0. A normal/low luk will have to take a few extra levels to be able to do what you do. But in the end, when all high level archmages/bishops are 1hk0ing, does overkill really make a difference? No, not really.

Luckless is better cause of better damage although on the other hand they cost a lot more than normal mages
VCxEthan : Luckless is better cause of better damage although on the other hand they cost a lot more than normal mages
That's where you are infinitely wrong. Lukless is both cheaper and stronger and easier to deck out with equips.

IImaplersWell if I go by Deme/MTS prices, here's what I notice (and let's focus on end-game weps/equips rather than for 2nd and 3rd job FP mages): A. A flamekeeper cordon (8 ma +20 accuracy) glove clean - costs 150-200m (not mts-able), this is preferably the end-game glove (after it is scrolled) for most Lukless mages. B. Whereas, to maker an 10 INT, clean lvl 90 mage glove costs about 1/3 to half as much ~50-75m. A. It is quite difficult for a lukless mage to obtain great end-game shoes, such as for +10 int yellow snowshoes. They'd have to be quite lucky with chaos scrolls. So let's say the avg cost would be 200-300m. B. It is easy to use maker in making +10 int clean mage shoes. Cost: about 50-75m. A. +20 int sauna robe costs around 200-250m B. +20 int lvl 80 mage overall costs about 100-150m. It is not very hard to maker a 10-11int clean one either (50-75m). Earrings & shield & helms: same cost for both lukless and lowluck and norm luk Weapon: A. a lukless FP mage's endgame weapon would be an ewand 5 = 600-800m at the moment and could quite possibly rise like crazy when evans come. B. a lowluk FP mage's endgame weapon can quite possibly be an estaff 1 (if they can't afford an ewand 5), which would go for about 200m. So if we add up all these averages: 4th job lukless FP AM: 1.325b avg for end-game gear 4th job low/norm luk FP AM: 475m avg for end-game gear So, I think low-luck are the winners in the cost-effectiveness category. Luckless however, will still outdamage them a lot of the time, even with sub-par equips.

The lukless can go around sporting an Ele 5/6 (Ele 6 is very cheap), Zhelm, and whatever else are common equips the Luk FP has (such as earrings and pendants) while not having gloves, an overall, and shoes and still beat the Luk Fp in terms of MP and INT as seen from IImaplers example. However, if the lukless FP can not afford an Ele 6, they would have to go with an Ele 2, and if the normal luk had an ele 1 staff then the lukless could probably afford an ele 6, so they probably have an ele 2 staff... Lukless - Luk Zhelm 15int -- Zhelm 15int Pendant 5int -- Pendant 5int Earrings 10/5 -- Earrings 10/5 Ele 6 - 150 magic attack -- Ele 2 120 magic attack 10/5 cape -- 15int cape N/A -- 10int shoes N/A -- 10int gloves N/A -- 20int overall N/A -- Let's even throw in a shield that adds 10 magic attack total. 200 magic attack bonus VS 210 - LUK, most likely around 60-70, so 140-150 Assuming they had a Ele 6, then they'd still lose by about 20-30 magic attack. AS you can see, the lukless wins. Once you consider that the Luk mage even had greater funding but still could not match the lukless, it makes lukless look even better.

And I'm not even that sure about Glove. Scrolling a maker'd glove will be a pain in the ass due to the 60%'s shiettyness. You'd have to use 30%'s resulting in blow-ups.

My next project is earrings (best I could do was 9/15) but my wallet is becoming empty xP

My lukless F/P am uses level 50 makered equips. His overall was clean with 8int (intermediate wisdom + above avg) His gloves were 6 int clean (intermediate wisdom) His Shoes were 9 int clean (adv wisdom + above avg) And I have more luk than I need with 9 base luk (from when you didn't get an automatic reset) Though it's easy to get yourself 53 luk even on 4 base. They were of course scrolled to nice stats after, which are secret.
