Also label the oxidation state of each before and after the process" but i didn't pay attention when he was going over it, therefore, i have no idea what to do -.- if someone could explain it to me, that'd be great. first question is 2Na+FeCl(subscript2) > 2NaCl+Fe |

| Sodium lost an electron, because in its solid state ( which is what im assuming it is), it has 0 charge, but in NaCl, it has +1 "charge", even though its really a pseudo charge. Fe has 2+ charge in FeCl2 and a 0 charge as Fe which means it gained electrons, which means it got reduced. @above- yeah redox are a type of reaction, similar to displacement, acid/base, and combustion reaction. |

 | Look at the charges... If an element's charge is higher in the reactants than it is in the products, it was oxidized. If vice versa, it was reduced. D'oh! |
