| Hello, maplers and basilers alike. I have a challenge for you that some may consider difficult. Although you may look upon it with scorn, discontent, or maybe even guilt, accepting or rejecting it will undoubtedly help you find out more about yourself...but that's just one of the rewards. If you accept it and see it through to it's completion, there's no telling what positive things may come your way. Ready? I'm challenging you to quit Maplestory for just two weeks. That's right. No Maplestory for two weeks. After those two weeks are up, it's your decision to stay clean or go right back. But I can guarantee you that you will walk away from this experience with something positive under your belt. Sound good? Get ready for some... Tips for undertaking the challenge - Delete that Maplestory shortcut from your desktop (I know you have one, don't lie). Don't restore it for the duration of the challenge. - Don't take this challenge while traveling. You need to become accustomed to not playing Maplestory in your home environment. - Start polishing a skill you want to harness (or find a new one!). This will definitely help get your mind off Maple, and it can only help you. - Start working out. A good percentage of Maplers are out of shape. Besides, the opposite sex loves it! - Study. That's probably a tip you've never wanted to hear, but good grades make the difference between working 'till you die as a janitor and retiring at 60 at a job you love. Besides, you only go through high school once - make it count. - Find something else you really want to work for. These are only a few examples I came up with off the top of my head; we all have those things inside that we truly want to strive for. If you can think of something that may help people undertake this challenge, post or PM it to me and I'll add it to this list. Still have any doubts? I know what many of you are thinking; "Maplestory isn't a problem to me. I go to school, I have friends, I study (sometimes). I'm not like that kid who died from playing WoW three days straight." That is true, but you may not realize that Maplestory is becoming a huge problem. Ask yourself, "How much did I spend on NX this month?" How about total NX spent last year? If you can't recall, that's not a good sign. How many hours did you play last week? Did Maplestory effect your emotions at all (I.E., did you feel sad because you got scammed or mad because someone fell short)? For many of us, the answers don't look too good...however, you have the ability to change that. Nobody else is going to do it for you; you need to step up, resolve to fix this, and carry it through. You can do it; I believe in you. A quick disclaimer I'm just throwing this in to prevent people from thinking that I'm trying to get them to quit; that's not my intent at all. I'm trying to get at least one Mapler to take a step back and think "Wow, I'm overdoing Maple. I should definitely calm down a bit." There's no reason to grind out 4 hours a day, ev |
