Why do people say to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth when you jog/run?

It starts to burn if you do nose/nose for a while. Less painful to do nose/mouth.

So you don't get a stitch in the side of your stomach. That's only for light jogging though. I've found it impossible to do that when I'm actually running.

Inhaling through your nose also makes the air contain more moist and changes its tempreture to fit the body.
