HELP me play MAPLESTORY at school through a firewall!

im going to school at ITT tech and they recently upgraded their firewall to not allow maplestory to connect to the server. i am wondering if anyone knows a way to get around this? possibly some sort of proxy application but im not sure. any advice is appreciated.

[/quote] This is in answer to the question "what do you do the rest of the day?"... you study. Stuff like this. Port 80 is the port used by HTTP, in other words, regular web browsers. Most firewalls leave port 80 open so users can run their normal web browsers for, oh I dunno... studying. If you use a "tunneling" program as mentioned in a message above, it creates a VPN "tunnel" through port 80 to the tunnel service's servers, where the port 80 is redirected to whatever original port the game or application you're trying to run uses. Two things- this creates a lot of continuous traffic on Port 80 which may be detected by the network's routers and flagged for further investigation. Also, using a redirect tunnel like this is just like using a web proxy- it means you take an extra hop through their servers which can slow down the game. (And it usually costs money to use a service like this.)

I'm gonna try that Pingfu Iris tunneler thing on my campus' firewall. Just in case I get busted by admin, what do you guys think is the worst punishment for they'll give? Expulsion?

Expulsion? [/quote] No- they'll just give you a stern "talking to". Repeated infractions, depends on the school. Best thing to do before getting into something that might get you into trouble is to ask around at the school. Seeing as how it's a technical school, SOMEBODY has no doubt already tinkered with this and should know IF it's possible, and what the consequences are for getting caught. Who knows... you might get bonus points in a networking class for getting through their firewall.

F3. OT: Why does a college have limited web browsing anyways? Most universities/collges don't have restricted internets.
