Well, I'm not too sure whether or not someone has made a thread for this, but whatever. What school did you guys get into? Students in my school got their results yesterday. I got into Stuy with a score of 572. I'm miserable because I don't want to go to Stuy. ;3;
Gratitude : My parents wanted me to put Stuy as my first choice. I wanted to go to Brooklyn Tech, but my guidance counselor isn't helping out.
you could have left stuy out when you bubbled in your shs choices on the test form, seeing that that's the only place where your choices matter and only you will see it. oh and congrats!
pr3stig3 : We do. It's called Boston Latin. We also have private schools, eg; Phillips Academy, Belmont Hill School, Phillips Exeter Academy, etc... @ above, as I said, it's all about being the smartest, going to the best schools and being better than everyone else these days. It's your decision, don't let anyone tell you what to do. Don't let your parents dictate what you can/can't do. It's your life, not their's. As long as you're within reason, and aren't doing anything foolish, such as taking drugs or breaking the law, go for it. Do whatever makes you happy.
I live on the Cape, and while I suppose it'd be possible, I think it would have been too much of a hassle for my parents to try to put me through something like that.

Are there any mandatory classes in Stuy that I should be aware of, if I choose to go there?
Smarmor : Oh, nifty. I wish we had that in Massachusetts. Would have made going to High School with kids that actually wanted to learn a lot more rewarding.
Yeah, I would like it too if here in Windsor Ontario we had a test that would decide where you go for Highschool, and would greatly increase your chances getiing into a great university.

abu210
pr3stig3 : Going to a good high school is overrated. It's all about how you apply yourself in school. I personally dislike high schools that require standardized testing to admit students. You're only 13-15 for Christ's sake. They are placing way too much pressure on little kids to do well in high school. Enjoy your life. Sometimes, people rush through life too fast to enjoy the little things. Slow down a bit, and have some fun. You are going to regret it in the future. Trust me.
I agree. Being a teenage and having all those fun moments in life you will never EVER get again in your life. Doing good is important, but not enjoying life is worse then failing.
steponbalrogs : swimm gymm unless you take the swim test and "pass"
it looks to me that even if you can swim and did fine on the swim test, you have a 20% chance of being marked as a pass, judging by how my friends fared.

I want to go to a different SHS that I applied for. Is there a way that I can get a seat in another SHS, and give up my seat?
