| I learned that studying, and getting A's in everything isn't that important. Throwing away your social life to please mommy and daddy solves nothing. Having a balance between work and play makes for a healthy person! Also, don't drown your self in AP/honors classes. It's okay to take regular level classes, or even some fun ones. |

| I agree. As long as I graduate I am fine. I don't see why I would want to go to a prestigious college right after high school anyways when I could be kicking it at a community college and having a good time and transfer into a UC two years later. To me fun>study/homework I know what my priorities are so school isn't all that important other then one or two classes. |

| well I have high expectations for myself and that's why I strive to do my best. It never gets to the point where ALL I do is study though. Also, I'm planning on taking art courses the next 2 years. |

| Hard Classes >>> Hard College >>> Office Job. Fun Classes >>> Easy College >>> Office Job. It's the same thing, only less work. |

| and I learned that partying and not caring about your grades at all is terrible as well. Now I have a balance as well, taking some hard and some easy classes, but leaving time for other things. |

I let my grades slip to enjoy life a little more. Those friends however have really no time for anyone. They just study, and thats all. |

| Ya for sure, a balance between work and play definitely makes a healthy person. The whole idea of studying depends on each person, some people can learn information at a whim, while others need to drill it into their heads. Just figure out what suits you and work it out. I really haven't learned much from high school. Sure all those courses gave me knowledge, but tt seemed like a waste of time with no practical application in the real world. I find university is when people actually start figuring out their lives and the "real world". |

| Also going to a amazing college isn't the hype it may seem. My friend told me her friend recently graduated from FIDM (supposedly best fashion college in the US) and instead of working at a business or office. She is stuck in a retail store, I could get that job without a degree from such a hyped college. Tuition was twenty five grand a year as well not including living expenses.. |

| You seem very self - actualized. I notice this because your intellect and values are very similar to mine. You're lucky, only 6 % of the population can reach this state. |

|
Ramunesun : I'd be lucky if I'm in the top 20% lol
Trust me, it's not worth the effort at time. I threw away my freshman and sophomore year and much of my junior year to get that high. It wasn't until late junior/early senior year that I realized what I had thrown away. I'm not saying go and fail classes, but taking all AP classes just for the sake of AP classes, is pointless. Edit: I learned more in regular classes, than my AP classes. Debate, speech and foods taught me real world applicable skills, and how to interact with new people. Not to brag, but I have a full ride to my college, but at what cost was it? |
