Assumption about being hacked

Well... this isn't a thread about me being hacked or anyone else getting hacked. It's just that, I found out from one of my friends about a possible cause for all the recent hackings. I have also read some posts on the "Talk about hacked here" thread on the front page. Now let me give you my hypothesis: "People are being hacked because they are logging onto the Nexon website" My reasons for believing this: My friend, he said that all his friends who charged NX got hacked. [ i thought this was funny, but apparently not] Reading some posts, people who don't charge NX got hacked. People who did charge NX did get hacked People who change their account info are hacked Now... just pointing out the obvious... what do they all have in common? It all requires you to log onto the maple site. I personally, have not logged onto the maple site... now, I haven't been hacked.... YET! So is it safe to assume that logging onto the maple site = possible leaked information? Now now now now, a possible safety precaution to those who read this, don't log onto the Maple website. Now for the second part, who else has noticed that they themselves have not been hacked due to not logging onto the maple site? Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else or this idea has been given out on the "Talk about hacked here" thread. I honestly don't have the time to go through 51 pages of doom :D Enjoy~ Edit #2, ANOTHER ASSUMPTION! Let me ask you, is your basil name the same as your log in name for maplestory? Like say the name wolfkakashi has the same password and name as what I use in maple?

Several people who haven't logged on the Nexon site have been hacked as well.

Are you sure about that? Maybe, they have logged onto maple for let say some odd reason like getting NX [the events that require you to log on daily]. That seems like the only logical thing for the information leak. Simply buying items does not suffice.

Okay before posting about my ridiculous assumption... give some reasons to back up your ridiculous comment -__-. In any case, you could of gotten hacked because you were logging a ticket and due to a recent thread about complaining to nexon.... I think that could of contributed?

Several inactive accounts have been hacked as well.

Lol one of my old account that I made about 5 years ago and I completely forgot about was compromised I haven't been on it for ages too = and if your gonna ask how I know, it's hooked to my email which has auto email notification, apparently someone resetted my password

I've been logging onto the website the last few weeks to check on a ticket I have logged. I have received reply from Nexon and I have commented on their reply. My account has not been tampered with. Edit: A mule account I made like two years+ back that I haven't touched in so long was compromised. Can't access as password has been changed.

[/quote] Please think about your assumption: Nexon's game gets hacked because of its own website? Many people don't even visit the website and still get hacked, much less logged on to it.

I had one of those "apparently someone resetted my password" about the pin thing as well. Uhh... luckily I was at home doing nothing and I stopped it, but that was a year or so ago. Hmmm...

[/quote] We aren't trolls. If anyone was a troll, you would be. Anyways, people give out they're information to meso sites and such. OR they wrote down their info. People tend to get envious or jealous. Like me. Trust me I would know. I always peek.
