well me any my friend were having an argument, as usual, about life, religion and such. We got onto the thing about how old the earth is, and he said he would bring in evidence that it's only 10k years old, cause he's super christian. So I was going to bring in something showing it's older, and we also talked about evolution, so something about that too. I'm thinking about bringing in my chemistry book, for how old the earth is, and a copy of Charles Darwin's book Origin of Species for evolution. Any good idea's on what else to do. And I wouldn't mind anyone putting what they truly believe about the subject, and backing it up so that I could more understand the angle he might be getting at. His and my argument is resuming on Thursday because we have study hall together again then, so I need to figure out this stuff by then.

Lol My chem teacher just told us how old Earth was today in class. It's 9x10^9 years apparently. Scientist like checked the Uranium in the Earth and did some calculations with it with like half life or whatever. We just started to learn this about today so I really couldn't tell you much but my teacher said it's 9x10^9. In the billions o-o

If he's super Christian and you're going to bring in a Charles Darwin book, get ready for an all-out flame war.

The earth is approximately 4.5billion years old. The calculation was made possible by carbon dating.

@eyomen, I know, but I'm going to try. I mean he's not going to get me to believe in a religion without some real proof, and he's not going to be able to find any. He is like his father, and I am like our science teacher from last year. They constantly argue about this stuff, but they are good friends. And him and I are just like that. I actually want to get both of them in on one of the arguments and see what happens. It'd be fun EDIT: about the uranium and carbon dating, both are a lot alike, but kinda for different things, but both can be used for and on some of the same things.
