| Long story short , i accidentally downloaded Vista Antivirus 2010 -___- (i was watching a show and i read vista in it and allowed it to be downloaded without really knowing what it was , yes i know it was my mistake) Well i've been trying to figure out how to get rid of this virus , and by reading online i've only found ways by doing it manually , so i tried one . i did what this site told me http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-vista-2010.html and i ended up not finding some of the registries , only 2 of them . I think my other mistake was that i closed av.exe without it telling me to do so -_- . so after not finding the other entries i closed the registry , tried to open a program and this comes out : "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." This happens to every program i tried to open so now i really cant open anything , im typing this because i already had firefox opened (luckily) . I already transferred out all my important files of the computer , but i really dont wanna reset it or restore it or anything . does anybody know what i could do or have any suggestions ? i'll appreciate it :| Thanks in advanced ~ Edit : Oh and PM me and ask for my email , i wont be able to open anything after this soo yeah , i'll check basil through my phone for now . Thanks |

I'll copy & paste what I typed before, and try to fit it in your situation. I think you have a malware/virus. Firstly, you should download Malwarebytes . Once you download it, do not install it just yet. Restart your computer and boot it into safe mode by rapidly pressing F8 on your boot menu. You should locate the set up and install it. If you are unable to install it, try renaming the set up into something else like coffee.exe (doesn't really matter). If you are unable to download it ; Go on another laptop/desktop/computer, and download the set up there, and put it either on a flash drive/ CD/ DVD and transport it to your infected computer. If you can't do so, (I'm not sure if this works or not because I haven't tried this way), boot your computer into Safe Mode with Networking, and try to download it from there. Once you are able to install it, on the last set up page of your installation, make sure the two boxes are check; Update Malwarebytes Run Malwarebytes It should then update & open Malwarebytes, and you should scan it. Once it's finished, it should find a few infected items, and will ask you to restart your computer. Let it do so. Then let it restart itself in normal mode, and scan with Malwarebytes again. It may find some things infected and it will restart your computer if it does so. Once that is finished and your computer is fine, I highly suggest getting Avira Antivir if you get the chance. Only if you have a free/trial version of Norton, AVG, etc though. Then scan your computer with your antivirus.

Are you able to restart your computer in Safe Mode..? If so, RENAME Malwarebytes to something else. These viruses can recognize the names of programs they know can kill them, so they block them from running. "MBAM.EXE" is one of those programs. So- rename MBAM.EXE to something else like BASIL.EXE and THEN double-click on it. Since the virus won't recognize whatever name you give it, you should be able to run the program.

well i got MBAM scanning my system right now , but how do i fix the "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing thisaction . Create an association in the Set Associations control panel" ? everytime i click a program this pops up , i would have to either right click it & run as admin. , or i would need like another file to open , ie: a saved website as archive , if you open that it'll open Firefox , but i cant open firefox alone

Finish scanning Malwarebytes first, and see what happens after you remove the viruses/malware.
