Hack Shield Initialization Error (257)

Hello. I have not had problems with a hack shield/gameguard error for several months. After playing for a few hours today, though, I logged off and could not start MapleStory a second time. Here is the message that I received: "Error occurs when the interface DLL file (EhSvc.dll, EGRNAP.dll, EGRNAPX2.dll) is forged or altered, or when the version is not matching. If the interface DLL file is forged or altered, this may lead to incapacitation of the hack prevented function. Program must be ended and restarted. (Value = 0x101)" I have tried restarting MapleStory, restarting my computer and re-downloading the game. None of the above have worked. It may be important to note that everytime I have started my game since version .75 my McAfee virus protection software has removed a trojan. This posed a problem the first time I tried to start version .75, but I re-downloaded soon after the last patch and the game still worked fine even though a trojan was still being removed. However, McAfee is currently still removing a file when I start up MapleStory. Any suggestions?

Im not a pro at this tech stuff but in the hackshield folder files, there is a trojan called Artemis! Artemis!. This trojan helps detect 3rd party programs such as hacks. Your McAfee probably detects it as a threat and deletes it thus making you unable to play maple. Try tuning your McAfee to ignore maple on startup or change your antivirus. I could be wrong though. D:

D: Hey thanks! My cousin had the same problem and I tried your suggestion and it worked. You just have to turn off your virus protection before you start maple and you can turn it back on after the log in page comes up. Thank you.

question... my mcafee didnt detect anything so should i still try turning off mcafee?

now is the gey part... after i got to the log in screen i turned it back on and kicked me out of maple....

@ The52 If your scanning without activating maple, your mcafee probably can't detect it. The highest chance of detecting it is when hackshield just starts up, cause that activates the trojan. And, it doesn't hurt to try. :p And P.S, McAfee isn't the best antivirus around, I would suggest Avira or Avast!

Maybe uninstall Mcaffee and download the free AVG. It's light and runs really well. =)
