A huuuuuuuuuuge star called Eda Carinae is gonna go supernova within the next millenium. Could be anytime, and it's poles will emit immense amounts of electromagnetic radiation, including Gamma rays. If it's poles are face toward the general direction of Earth, the Gamma rays will destroy our cells and everyone will slowly die from cancer. The government is not to blame.

The apocalypse has been for-seen many times, it was supposed to happen sometime in the 1980's I believe, also in 2000, or "2k." I really doubt that this 2012 thing will actually happen, but there is the slightest thing inside me that wont be surprised if it did.
