Unline most other people my build is this: 30 strafe 30 Hawk 30 Arrow rain 30 Inferno 20 puppet 6 Thrust 5 Mortal Blow ----------------------------- Most people hate the thought of any good use for inferno these days other than being a trivial mob lure skill, but I use it differently. For people who've maxed, or nearly maxed the skill, here are a good use for Inferno in an efficient way. Solo training at himes If your a ranger who wants to get their hands on a few novelty oranges, or hates to train at Typhons because they don't have the Mark of heroism, or are too bored of newties, heres a good way to train a himes without dying in 5 seconds due to a auto-hp failiure. First: Mob the map with arrow rain, sweep the entire area so the himes are aggrivated by your attacks, then gather them to one spot. Either end of a map is a good spot by the way, it keeps you on your guard so you won't get over crowded by them ugly ghosts. Second: Deploy a Puppet at the end of the map, this will trap all the himes to attack the puppet which could last up to 12 seconds based on how hard they hit. Third: Arrow bomb them to hold them from moving, this in turn would allow circulation of damage for the next step Fourth: Spam inferno on the mobs until they all die, or if they are unstunned, repeat step 1 ~ 4 accordingly. Why use Inferno instead of Arrow bomb? Easy, although arrow bomb can stun, the animation is half as fast as inferno, and the damage inflicted on the mobs isn't consistant or balanced. Inferno however in a stange way gives balanced damage to your targeted mobs until they all die all together in a 1 ~ 2 second time frame from eachother. But the descision is up to you. But remember Inferno = Faster, while Arrow bomb = Stun, much like what a Bowman is compared to a Xbowman I find many uses for inferno every day, It's quite dissapointing how over time, it has been rendered and labeled as a useless skill.

Well, i never played a bowman, but woudnt it be better to use AR/AE?

Pedrof1990 : Well, i never played a bowman, but woudnt it be better to use AR/AE? That wouldn't work at himes since arrow rain as the problem of drawing in rather pushing monsters away from you, plus arrow rain has a shorter range.

Pedrof1990 : Well, i never played a bowman, but woudnt it be better to use AR/AE? Yes, AR would be a lot better if you have auto HP pot @TS, you are an idiot. Arrow Bomb is as fast as Inferno. It is just about the same damage (8% difference) and stuns. + you need 30 3rd job SP. If you need max puppet, you are going to himes at 87 with this Skill build rather than 77. Don't max inferno. No point in doing it.

The animation for Arrow bomb takes 1/3 a second to spead to other enemies, while inferno spreads instantly.

no need to be so harsh peechboy, however you do bring a good point. i dont find inferno useless although im not a ranger. the idea of it doesnt sound too bad. sacrificing mb for inferno is a loss, but not too big. you wont be hime'ing as a bowman from what i've heard, but this idea could be used in other places. I guess inferno's main purpose from what i've seen is to lure or sometimes attack when ab's stun is a hassles, such as typhons. Nice try i guess, but its not a too good idea i guess. EDIT: whoops, forgot inferno is weaker then ab. Never mind >:O
Pedrof1990 09/10/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Well, if the TS finds it useful i totally support his idea, one thing i actually don't like about MS is to have a 'right/defined' build, and not be able to just put points and train differently some times

This seems like a good idea and a bad idea at the same time, but im not a bowman so i dont know how they train really. I always do see bowmen at newts tho, using hawk and strafe. They never use inferno there so it seems like a bad idea since newts is where bowmen train for a long time, until skeles. Inferno would only be useful when himing, which means that inferno wouldnt be useful for long because himes is much slower than newts and skeles at higher levels.

ChibiCross : no need to be so harsh, peechyboy, Sorry bro, but Randomoverlord : and Inferno is faster COME ON! This is just asking to get flamed.

you know that himes is more crowded than pretty much any other training map, plus has the risk of crow right? build based about one map are dumb.
UseTheForce 09/10/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Sounds good. At what level do you recommend for this? Also, how are the potion costs? By the way, you might want to elucidate upon the way Inferno's splash works faster than Bomb's. Otherwise people will probably assume that you're talking about the firing speed.
Icedfire 09/10/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
i can tell you right now potion costs are higher and training there is more dangerous than any other kind of training. the TS is just suicidal and has money to burn to get sub-par exp. ignore him.
RandomOverlord 09/10/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Sorry to burst your generic "All bowman have to be the same" bubble, but I know what I'm talking about. If you have good speed and jump, you'll be fine. If your at least lv 100, you can train here at ease if your incapable of train at typhons. Trust me, I've earned 13mil exp per 2x at lv 100 here. As mentioned before, the damage of arrow bomb spreads 1/3 seconds after the first/impact explosion. Inferno however spreads instantly and averages consistant damage on the targeted mobs.

The truth about training at himes... Typhons would be way better anyway... @above: Himes are still going to die as fast since shooting speed is the same... So mentionning this is useless.
