Hey guys, Jake here with another rant. BUT WAIT THIS ISN'T A RANT THIS TIME It's a lesson on why you people need to chill about "H1N1" I googled all over for information, but I couldn't find an overall swine flu death toll. Let me tell you, it isn't over 3,000. Out of billions of people. Sure, the disease sucks. But let's compare now. Media! Ah, the media. How you always fail us. Micheal Jackson death coverage 24/7 (We don't care, keep it on "E!" Now this. Swine flu? More like Whine Flu. I actually want Swine Flu, to show the world it isn't a huge deal. But anyway, it is NOT deadly. It can kill you, but eat your vegetables, get some sleep, and it's fine. I have had pneumonia in the past. Sure, it sucked, but I saw it as a free week of school. (It was pretty bad btw) It's nothing to fret over. We have the medicine for this. But what we need to cover in the media- HIV and AIDS. Ask anyone, and I mean anyone. Ask them: "whats the biggest epidemic in the world at the moment" "swine flu" Then laugh, and sound the imaginary buzzer. WRONG! It's HIV. HIV and AIDS is something TO be feared. The sad thing is, it can be prevented. It's a HUGE epicdemic. You may not know it, but scientists believe you have met at least 5 people in your life with HIV, may it be a random "hello" to a person or a friend. But it goes up when you become sexually active. People think "Pfft HIV, it's rare. UNPROTECTED SEX TIME!" But it's not that rare. It is very common nowadays. I won't go into detail, you've heard this before. Odds are you didn't hear how serious it is. Why THIS hasn't been on the news is beyond my knowledge. So wait.... Swine Flu isn't a huge deal compared to HIV Dead on. HIV is one of the largest epidemics we as the world face (Not just the US people) It needs to be covered. Now. I will be starting a petition to get the news to inform people OF THE FACTS But swine flu can be transferred easy! True. But people tell me "Only stupid people get HIV, who is dumb enough to have unprotected sex" So I say: "Only stupid people go around others when sick. Who is dumb enough to be out in public when you are obviously sick?" Well, I'm pretty sure since X people died from disease in the past we are screwed! Theres a book I want you to read. It's called "Fever 1793". It's a historical fiction about a girl living in Philadelphia during the yellow fever outbreak. It killed 5,000+ people in the city alone. Now, look at how they cared for patients in it. They had no medicine, instead they "bleeded" their patients. Trying to flush out the "bad blood" No such thing. Here nowadays we have vaccines, medicines that actually work, better understanding of anatomy, and a better medical system. Using the logic "It killed X people in the past, we should worry!" is like saying "OH NOES THE BUBONIC PLAGUE WILL KILL US ALL!" Anything in closing? Everyone has to die one day, why is everyone so worked up about it. Nonetheless, the flu of any sort is deadly to the right group of people, but AIDS is also an issue... But you learn that in school, it's a REQUIRED class. Furthermore, the vaccine for the Swine Flu is just as dangerous, as it contains mercury compound. Though it's not a very high concentration, even the smallest amount can cause long term effects and even death. But then again you could just call me ignorant as you consume the biased news with your tiny little brains who can't comprehend truth from blatant nationalism.

I've had the swine flu. It was different from the regular flu. I wouldn't say worse, just different. Regular flu, I had a mad fever, felt weak, and had a mad headache for a few hours. After that, I'd feel fine, aside from the high fever. Swine flu, was like a severe cold. Stuffy nose, sneezing everywhere, coughing, fever. But no headache. I just couldn't think straight and everything seemed clouded. Yes. Swine flu is "overrated" compared to HIV/AIDS.

There is no known cure for HIV period, and it's been over 20 years. Swine flu has been around one, and they got a vaccine prototype. Learn your facts. @above I wouldn't say "overrated" I would prefer "taken completely out of context"

There is no prototype. I'm sure in the future we can see an HIV vaccine, but not now. Thus making it more dangerous. Thing is, if you want, you could stroll right outside the house and get yourself a swine flu vaccine. It would cost you, but you can get one :/

And we watched atleast 2 videos on AIDS/HIV.

Swine Flu and Influenza are virtually almost the same (I've had both). Swine flu is just a new strain, therefore getting more media coverage and infecting what seems like more people, because of the lack of vaccine. In reality though, millions of people get the normal flu every year and a small percentage die. A ton of people will get Swine Flu too, but the death percentage will still most likely be a very small amount.
