Many many many MANY people are having this problem, and its a relatively simple fix. To fix it, do this (Taken from Nexons site) Hello Maplers, If you are having problems updating HackShield after the maintenance that was held on September 1st, please follow these steps to fix the problem: 1. Reboot your computer 2. Erase all files in the HShield folder in the MapleStory installation folder (usually located in the C Drive - C:NexonMapleStory) 3. Download This 4. Copy all the files and paste to the HShield folder inside the MapleStory installation folder 5. Run the game If this does not fix your HackShield problem, please uninstall the client and redownload the full client. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you! -The MapleStory Staff- That SHOULD do the trick. Happy mapling

Im not actually sure if it will work for combat arms as well :/ I think the CA and MS hackshield folders have different file contents, so the one here would not work to fix the combat arms problem. Ill try and see if theres a fix for it too though.

I could play yesterday, but today I can't for some reason. I'm reinstalling Maple at the moment.
