It's good but mods can't suspend for less than one day anymore It was nice for users when there were just five minute suspensions, when they broke the rules without knowing and stuff

Basil is the only forum I've been to that regularly gives out day long+ suspensions (I don't forum that much). Most other places I've been to have shorter bans, such as hours or so. It's the stupid bans that annoy the crap out of me, like getting a ban for responding to someone attacking me when they themselves don't get a ban. If I deserve the ban, I don't mind it. If I don't, then I'm all for the hour long bans.

I'd rather have 1-5hour suspensions than 2 day suspensions.

Alternate suggestion to TS: How about... just don't get suspended? :D I don't seem to have any problem sticking to the rules, why am I (along with numerous other posters) the exception/s? No poster on this site should ever need to receive more than 2 or 3 suspensions in the entirety of the time they spend on basil since initially joining. The purpose of a suspension is to curve and ultimately eliminate rule-breaking in it's entirety and thereby cause individuals to avoid posting in a manner that is not permitted. How then, would a suspension of an hour-based range be any more effective than a suspension of up to several days long if the several-days-long ones aren't accomplishing the goal? Might I suggest that the problem is not the suspension, but the user posting in a way that warrants a suspension.

Back when suspensions were glitched I received 5 minutes for joking about buying an item in the Archer Discussion Thread. I've never made the same mistake twice, despite the suspension only lasting a moment or two.
