Can't you just wear main stat equips while pumping secondary stat points for the equivalent of a low stat build? Example: I'm a low str gunslinger. I buy a 10 str cape and a 10 str robe. I now have 20 str. I pump 20 points in dex. I now have 20 dex and 20 str. I'm a low str gunslinger. I buy a 10 dex cape and a 10 dex robe. I now have 20 dex. I pump 20 points in str. I now have 20 str and 20 dex. Despite this mathematical equivalent, people insist on buying their items scrolled for their secondary stat. My question is, why would you buy a 10 str robe for an archer/ gunslinger and pump 10 extra dex when you can buy a much cheaper 10 dex robe and pump 10 extra str, ending up with the same amount of AP? Is there a reason (besides maple warrior) why people do this?

by putting equips on secondary stat, u give room for up grade with ur situation 20 pts into dex 10 str cape 10 str robe 20 pts into str 10 dex cape 10 dex robe suppose u get a zhelm 15/15/15/15 in situatino 1 u have room to sell ur str cape and str robe, get a 5 str cape, and get good dex robe situation 2 u just wasted like 15 str from ur helm since u can't "unequip" 20 str u pumped AP into

So you don't have to worry about buying higher-leveled equipment since you won't be able to wear it anyways?

And Maple Warrior is a part of it too.

Using equips to cover your secondary stat leaves more flexibility in your decision-making for higher level AP builds. For example: If you put points directly into your secondary stat but then ended up with more than necessary (due to a new equips you didn't think you'd get or such) you pretty much have to use AP resets.

@Yuwyn and LonelyaznNW. You both make pretty good points but they're essentially the same, so I have an answer to both at once: just level up. Once you level up the str you had before that was considered extra is now considered required. Example: I am a level 30 gunslinger. I put 20 points in str for a total of 25 str. I buy a 5 str cape. I now have 30 str required for my level. Then, I upgrade my cape to 10 str. I now have 35 str. This strength, at level 30, is considered unnecessary. Since I put AP into str I can no longer change it (NX is a no no for me). However, once I level to 35 that str is now no longer extra, but required. I know you can't level up on command to make your str match up right, but the principle is there. Is there another reason for buying those secondary stat equips (again, excluding maple warrior. My goal is level 200 but five years into the game at level 52 I realize I will probably never even get third job)? And thank you for taking the time to read and reply.

He still doesn't understand o.o, this concept is done for the long run for when you try to find your end game equips. I(t doesn't matter if ur ahead at lower lvls cause ull eventually be about even. Simple concept...

Leveling up won't help at all if you make the mistake of adding too much secondary stat by the time you're past level 120 and your secondary stat exceeds the requirement for a the highest level weapon possible. In this case, you'd still end up having to use AP resets. Of course, if you don't plan on getting that high then your choice with AP builds hardly matters. People only prefer equipping secondary stat equips to prepare for new equips that are constantly coming out.

MAPLE WARRIOR! u see maple warrior gives bonus wutever to the base stat so if u get secondary skill bonus u will get more since ur base will be higher

more importantly, why do you care? it shouldnt matter to you whether people choose to add dex or str (no flame intended)
i8aslurpee 09/09/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Leveling up doesn't help anything once you have your endgame equips. You don't need Strength for anything else except equips, so if you have too much, there's nothing you can do but AP reset. However, if you got that Strength from equips, the solution is simply to unequip the equips to lower your strength, thus not having unnecessary extra of it. Hope you can understand this.

Thanks for replying everybody. I do understand that endgame equips change things a bit, but if any of you had just read my posts all the way through you would have noticed that I said I'm not getting past third job. So, I would not have to worry about having to pick an endgame item since there always be choice at lower levels. And the reason I care is because (1) dex equips are much cheaper than str (or at least the robe is) and (2) more equips are dex scrollable than str scrollable (shoes earrings and hats can be scrolled for dex. I'm not sure about strength though). And please do not refer to me in third person. You're either making me out as a child or you're just being haughty.
