I just went to my first practice (I'm in 9th grade) today. It was EXTREMELY HARD. I felt like puking, had a headache, and was sore all over. During the practice, I decided to not go to any more practices, and just quit. Now, I kinda wanna go again tomorrow. Will the drills get easier for me over time? Also, I'm like 20 lbs overweight and trying out for linesman/linebacker. Will I lose those 20 lbs :o? Also, general tips help

IF your gonna play as a linemen, than your going to gain more weight =/, really depends if your offensive or a defensive lineman to. Don't worry though because most of the time the extra weight you gain is muscle because linemen are one of the more taxing and stronger positions that can be played (Offensive linemen have to protect the QB and make holes for the RB, and Defensive Linemen have to plug those holes, and Break through the Offensive line, Basically alot of grabbing and shoving =/) BUT if your going to be a Linebacker that most chances you'll end up skinnier (after of course you gain muscle weight) cause you'll either be A) trying to sack the QB, B) Chasing WRs and TEs around the field, or C) Breaking though the holes that your defensive linemen make through the offensive line and tackling the RB.

First of all, some of these people don't know **** about what there talking about. Second of all, this is coming from an experienced football player. Okay about those 20 pounds, you'll lose them. With the high school practices, you will definitely lose them if you are over weight. We had a player who dropped from 270 to about 230 in about 2 weeks. And football takes a lot of dedication, you have to eat right, stay hydrated, and focus on school also. So, I suggest go back and just keep doing it because IT WILL get better as you progress. Just make sure if you get a long break, to keep training such as conditioning because if you don't and you come back, it will be hard as the first day. And if you can move your feet, and get in a low 4-point or a good 3-point stance and explode out of it, you can be a good linemen. Defense or Offense. As for linebacker, it really depends on the defense your team runs. Some defense's require the linebackers to have speed, others don't. But speed can never hurt you. So, all I got to say is stick with it, eat right ( especially if you want to lose the weight ) STAY HYDRATED AND KEEP HYDRATING YOUR SELF. And best of luck to you hope you make the team.

If you wanna lose weight you should start eating right and exercising. Fat is just a way your body stores energy, so if you don't use the energy you get after eating it turns into fat (-.-). If you wanna gain muscle eat food with a lot of protein with little fat. P.s. Muscle weighs more than fat and starving your self would make you lose fat AND muscle.

Hey buddy! Well I've been in football for 4 years now as a Right/Left Guard so I'll give you my input. You will gain weight, but it's not because you're getting faster it's because muscle weighs more than fat. Also yeah the practice might seem hard at first, but it gets better as you learn your plays and get to know the blocking/tackling technique better. And you will get bruised up, but there's no getting passed that since football is a contact sport and you're pretty much smashing each other with full force. Just ask me anymore questions if you want help

You won't lose the weight, but you will lose the fat. I'm 5'9 and 185 or 190 lemme go weight my self after I post this. Nevermind, I lost some of that weight, 180 now. Tomorrow is our first game, YEA! Yea practice is one of the biggest beyotches at first, but then, after a while, you will like the drills. Yea, Grade 9 too.
