Can't install newest version of MSN

I get the Windows messenger install error 0x80004004 , and it said I needed Microsoft Visual Studio run time. How would I go about fixing this?

If you're upgrading to the windows vista version of msn messenger, don't do it. It's crap.

I find the newest version way to ugly. So I downloaded the older version o-o OT: I'm honestly not sure. Did you try googling it?

Aggravation : WHat's pidgin and trillian? sorry for replying late they are alternatives for Windows Messenger. Use those if ur not satisfied.
