| Let me tell a personal story that most kids are afraid to. I started playing MapleStory during the summer of my 8th grade year, meaning I was going to be in 9th grade; freshman in HS. After several hours a day playing it and few months later, I achieved many levels (50/60) and continued to do well in school. Then the turn of my not-so-good life.. NX cash cards came out X_X. I was shopping with my mom at Target (for cloths, yes i was a loser) and saw it. I begged my mom and she said no. < Sad face. After that, I saved up my lunch money. I started everyday for 5 months. Target was quite far from my house so I had to take the bus for it; 30 minute trip. So, during my last quarter as a Freshmen I started to Ditch my last class to go home and play MapleStory.. All year long of my S0ph0more year, I ditched my 7th period class to go home an hour early to play maple. Sometime during the last few months of school, I ditched full days. Then Summer came. I grinded and grinded to level 170, yay. After a couple weeks, I received the letter of failure. I could not attend any local schools because of insufficient credits. I had to attend a "continuation" high school to catch up on my credits and to transfer back to a local school, not only that but I've gained a couple of dozen pounds. Like 10 dozen.. This is when I knew I screwed up. I traded Maple for Fun and Fat. I still kept on playing maple but this time, my school progressed. Senior year came. The first week of my senior year I knew I was going back to my regular high school when my teacher stopped me. He told me to take this test to see how I do. If I did it, i'd get a week full of credits (.3 credits) After I took it, he told me that it was a regular placement test at a near-by community college. He told me, I was a smart student, just Lazy. After that day, I've had a few talks with my counselors and was told I could transfer to the community college as a Jr. College student. This is my turn-around life point. I've started to take better care of myself, did well in school, and even leveled to 198 on Maple. I went from 347 pounds to about 190 in that year. IMO, Maple was kinda embarrassing to tell people that I played it, but I was good at it and some girls I knew played too so I wasn't afraid to tell them. Now, I'm a full time College student studying Hospitality Management. (I'm going to be a Bar owner with Strippers. I swear.) I have time for 3 things now, not just one. Work, School and Maple. I've learned to control myself to play and spend on NX so I get my 3 square meals a day x] If you're willing to share, tell us what happened to you and what you've done to make yourself even better, or for the worse.. X_X Thanks for reading, -Smile. |
