You're either for or against it. List reasons as to why or why not. I'm personally not decided upon the matter myself, though I'll often argue the opposing view (whichever that may be). EDIT: Look. "It's not bad for you" isn't a reason for legalizing marijuana.

Loomer : for it. it could save the economy/help the environment it's hypocritical for it to be illegal while nicotine, alcohol, and select pharmaceuticals remain legal it's not significantly detrimental to a person's health, in some cases it's very helpful. anxiety, MS, glaucoma, y'know. There's more ways than the legalization of marijuana which can help stimulate the economy. Nicotine doesn't alter your state of consciousness. Contrary to popular belief, marijuana is indeed unhealthy. While it's not necessarily life-threatening, it's not good for you either.

Depending upon the country there are stronger and weaker evidence to argue with and when you argue for the legalization of marijuana world wide then it becomes an issue of morality as well as an issue concerning the world economy.

*Note: I do not smoke pot what so ever, I feel that alcohol is ALOT better* Personally, if marijuana was legalized with strict policies (like the same procedure for buying alcohol, or more), then I would support it to the fullest extent. Mostly because Marijuana is probably one of drugs that affects the human body the least, both in long term and short term. In short term, alcohol is worse because of the chemical content going into the liver, affects brain activity, and the chances of sickness or death due to overdose is much higher in alcohol than in marijuana, yet it is legal. In long term, cigarettes are worse because of the chemical content going into the lungs and the need for nicotine makes them more addicting than marijuana. Many types of cancers has been developed due to excessive smoking of cigarettes over a long period of time which have lead to many deaths while from my knowledge, no cancers has been developed by smoking pure marijuana. Hence, cigarettes are much more dangerous and deadly than marijuana in the long term, yet cigarettes are legal. With this, and ways to stimulate the economy (in the U.S.) are the reasons why I support the legalization of marijuana. I will also let you all know a fun fact. As of 2008, marijuana laws has been decriminalized in Massachusetts. With this, if anyone is caught by the police with less than an ounce of marijuana (larger than it seems), the only punishment is a $100 fine and if one is under 18, then the parents are notified and placed in drug counseling courses. It works out for both sides because teenagers do not have arrest history or misdemeanor offenses on their record and because the criminal justice system has more room for prisons for convicts of more serious drug charges and other crimes. Granted its not full on legalization, but I will be satisfied with any steps towards decriminalization of marijuana.

alchemy10 : Legalizing marijuana would be good for the economy and reduce the number of cartels, thus decreasing crime. Besides, there's nothing wrong with weed. Legalizing murder would reduce crime too.
