how fast will this internet be?

so i am getting this verizon plan its 3mbps/1.5mbps per second. its DSL. so i am just wandering how fast will be the downloads? some people say it will be 384/kbs per second. but i am not sure how fast it will be? thanx

(x / 8)[10^(y)] where x = mbps and y = SI prefix ( mega = 6, to get kilobytes, use 3 because kilobytes have 3 less place values. Single digit numbers use the SI prefix 0 because 1 x 10^0 is still 1.) (3 / 8) [10^(3)] = 375 kilobytes per second. The divisor, eight, is used because there are eight bits in a byte, and likewise, eight megabits in a megabyte.
