OB3LISK : If a Marksman can Pierce Arrows they'll probably solo Zak a lot quicker I'm not sure. no, because Pierce will only hit zak once, as zak is a single monster and not a mob, despite the size for soloing bosses, snipe is the way to go

There are more situations than just Bossing. You shouldn't determine your choice, or someone else's, solely on one factor.

Well I know for a fact BMs have an advantage when it comes to dps & soloing bosses, they also have an advantage due to the fact they can pin down some bosses but MMs has an advantage when it comes damage on mobs. B.T.W snipe does 199k As for who is overall stronger there is no awnser to that cuz one is stronger 1v1 and one is stronger vs mobs.

Neither class is inherently stronger. Funding, build, playstyle, reflexes, etc. go into making each class what they are. Approximately, I feel very comfortable in saying that the classes are plenty well balanced the way they are. Just take for example funding. The same amount of funds may buy better equips for an xbowman, but in 4th job, with stable snipe damage better, stronger equipment isn't going to have the same impact as a bunch of good equips on a BM. For my build example, there are a lot of ways to build a MM, and depending on which way you want to go, you can be good at bossing or training, but they can't do both as effectively. BMs tend to be a little more straightforward in their builds, but hurricane is also more versatile, as a good bossing and training move. And reflexes as another example, if you're quick on the draw, MM can do good damage with snipe every ~5-6 seconds, and likewise, if you've got good reflexes with hurricane, you can cut your overkill down to almost nothing (as opposed to MM who have great numbers, but frequently large overkill). The classes are what you make them. I recommend your friend watch some videos of the two classes (not just 4th job unless he's fairly certain he can make it there) and learn about the skills and training styles, and make a decision based on that, instead of relying on a bunch of homers to tell him which class is objectively better.

I agree with all that except for Hurricane and reflexes. If you stop exactly when you see the monster die, you already overkilled by around 3 arrows (for me at least). If you know it takes you 8 arrows to kill a Skele on average and your reflexes are good, you can let off 8 arrows. But since our damage is quite unstable due to critical, you cant rely on such "timing", it wouldnt work 100% or even close to it. With a decent compromise I can get my average overkill to around 2 arrows, which isnt too bad, but considering its 25% of what I need to kill the monster... Its not "almost nothing" in my eyes.

Well, I was speaking relatively. 3 arrows is almost nothing compared to sniping a Nest Golem (199,999 - 80,000 = 119,999 overkill = 60% overkill). Plus, hurricane is a set of separate attacks, so if there's another monster behind the one you're killing, overkill is strictly limited to the extra damage on the one final arrow that hits the monster, which is considerably smaller than 4 arrows with strafe, the one massive shot of snipe, and depending on a lot of factors, possibly the damage pierce can do. Also, I don't have extensive first-hand experience with hurricane, but I do know that you get experience for a kill the instant you fire the killing blow, so if you pay attention to that instead of the death animation you can reduce wasted shots furthermore.

Hurricane is too fast for that. Really. If there are 4 snails in a row and you fire 4 Hurricane arrows, they all "kill" the 1st snail. Edit: I just relized one thing you might not know about... The "overkill" arrows are client sided. What I mean is the other players will see 1 hit on each snail while the BM himself can see 3-5 depending on lag and whatnot. The extra arrows "disappear", but they still take time to be shot.

I did not know about that. Those are some weird lag mechanics. Well nevertheless, my main point was, reflexes are still somewhat relevant because with bad reflexes you can still shoot off an extra 8 arrows after or kill or something like that.

ksazn : link (photobucket) non-party. Enjoy P.S. In the description it says that snipe is 10 seconds cooldown. Ignore this, because the damage formula entered and calculated already in the excel in the formula is set to 5 seconds, so the damage there is correct How come Hurricane is 191782 here kruse : http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/2439/screeny5.png This? and 135197 here o.o

As much as I hate to admit it as a BM, MM have a more versatile arsenal and probably higher damage output. I don't really care; I am an archer after all. o_O
