Alright, so the Board of Education for my town has gone completely mental and wacko. The new rules they are instating are completely ridiculous! 1. NO BACKPACKS AROUND SCHOOL! Meaning, we aren't allowed to carry backpacks, those stretchy gym bags, or those giant purses girls carry around anymore in the halls. Backpacks are to be kept in lockers from first bell to the end of the day. 2. Just about anything is considered bullying. You call someone gay as a joke and you both laugh. A teacher walks by. You get a warning and they say "if you do it again, you're getting suspension and a call to the police". WHAT. THE. F. 3. They are increasing the number of credits needed to graduate from 24 to 26 and community service hours needed are practically doubled. 4. These... completely retarded meetings are held weekly on how to stop racism and bullying. MY SCHOOL HAS 400 PEOPLE AND 200 TEACHERS. You don't think that one teacher can handle two students? And since when is one black person calling another black person a n-word considered racism? It's within your own race! There is no hate if everyone laughs, even the victim. Honestly, either people are getting too soft or the schools are getting too uptight. It's just like television. -_- 5. Over the course of the years we are at the school, one period a week will be used to talk about how that class (not whole grade) can do a community service project. And when you reach senior year, you have to document it all and make a presentation. PLUS take an Exit Exam. If you fail, you have to take summer school for enough to equal half a course. Absolutely ridiculous. By the way, I found the answer to anything bad that happens in the world caused by man: Pride. People in this world have too much pride. Examples: Gang fights, being hurt by measly insults to your mother, or someone making a simple joke about you. Why is it that so many people in this world have to retaliate? Why can't they just keep their mouth shut and walk away? It isn't a matter of courage, but of respect and dignity.

State or public school?

So they are basically making you carry the books instead of having a bookbag? That will totally make many bookbag companies go downhill, but at least you will get strong arms!

Bind on Equip. On topic: I agree with 1, but the rest are poor judgment. I went to a middle school where we weren't allowed to carry backpacks (even during lunch) and got used to it.

Sounds rough, dude. We had to take an exit exam and it's not hard at all. I hope the 1:2 teacher to student ratio was an exaggeration. o-o; I don;t think you can really do much, but your parents might be able to put a word in or two, unless you get the support of every studen and have a strike. It's best to just follow the rules. Better than getting in trouble and screwed over, right?

It's best to just follow the rules. Better than getting in trouble and screwed over, right? Yeah that was exaggerated a tad. It's maybe 1:5 or so. We do have a lot of teachers in our school for some unusual reason. Exit exams don't look too hard, but you never know. Possibly make you think back into Freshman year and recall what you learned then. Like hell I'll remember that. Students would just think it's fake and blow it over. Someone tried a petition for something, like extended lunch time, but only got maybe 30 signatures last year. One of the tons of rumors going around for the nonusage of backpacks is the fact that we had so many bomb threats last year. 3, maybe 4. Could be just a matter of space in the halls, especially with the number of incoming Freshmen, but it's all just rumors. We haven't gotten a strait answer, and none of the teachers have a clue on the real deal.

Your school requires community service? Mine doesn't and if it did then I would say that teaching my friends little brother to play guitar and then play xbox for the remaining hours would be my community service by helping children.

Clulessponywowow. those rules suck. i remember we had similar rules with the backpack situation after an incident at my middle school [a few laptops were stolen..i don't get how you walk out of the school with a few laptops o_o] I need 30 credits to graduate, but man that presentation thing sounds messed! and that is a lot of teachers. o.o
