Why do GUYS work so hard to get a certain kind of hairstyle?

I understand getting your hair cut a certain way, but I read that "Find out if you're attractive thread" thread and some guy uses like blow-drying, straightening and specific shampoos? I'm nowhere near to being that vain, at most I blowdry it if I have a bedhead. My hair is always naturally straight and other people seem to like it, but I don't see why us guys should really care what much about it.. What do you people think?

I try to work on my hair, seeing as it does a lot to how your total look is.. I spend like 0~5min on it xD sometimes I like it the way it is, or I got a haircut and I don't need to do much

I think it's nice if you pay attention to how you look. But if you spend more than 10 mins in the morning on your hair, then that's just ridiculous. DO NOT LIKE. (Does not apply to special occasions)

Wanting to look good is being vain? Being vain is admiring yourself. I don't understand your comparison between guys and girls and the amount of time spent on their hair, it's just a misconception that guys don't fuss about their own hair. Hair can make or ruin your facial appearance, moreover Asian guys carry the Asian hair style in their blood, which a lot of time requires all those things you mentioned. Who cares how long you spend doing your hair, as long as it looks good and girls like it (which is really the only reason to try so hard). PS. And in case you haven't noticed, hairstyles are starting to prevail more and more within guys this century.

What's wrong with blow drying hair? All it is is faster drying.. I blow dry and straighten my hair(to an extent) Nothing wrong with that.

I tend to find that the longer a guy spends on his hair, the uglier it looks. Like the porcupine looking spikes, the hell is that.

Well, it helps with your self-esteem, and it might get others to like you/make them attracted to you? o.o
