hey basil. so this has been happening for a while and i just wanted to know if i had a virus or was it just spam. everytime im on a website (almost everytime) this thing pops up and goes like. "YOUR COMPUTER MAY HAVE VIRUSES, WE CAN CONDUCT A VIRUS DETECTOR" or something like that. then it goes to my computer and starts scanning, it doesnt really go to "My Computer" it just shows that on the tab im on. I have conducted a REAL virus scan and it doesnt say i have a virus. I use Kaspersky internet security 2009. just a note, i have 4 detected keyloggers and 1 detected trojan >.>....... they're blocked though. so im guessing its those. please help basil. :P.

It might be malware, it also depends on the site, but its not your real "your computer" its a type of advertisement. Edit: Get rid of it?

Whats popping up is Spyware on your computer, If it infects your computer deep enough, None of the Spyware removing programs can detect it.

just a little question. Bodysnatchers are you sure its a fake antivirus on a website? because it happens all the time. and like Icebane said it may be a spyware (prob is) and if it gets deep enough you cant detect it?

Edit: AngraMainyu : A recent salvo of rogue anti-virus software, which is presumably 'General Antivirus,' and dually 'Internet antivirus pro,' giving its last, exhausted attempt to disguise itself as reliable anti-malware. Several domains have been very intricately designed to promote this rogue anti-malware. More so perhaps than the malware itself. To further propagate this poorly-disguised trojan, its coders, who I can only assume is a small group, have also registered for Google AdSense. Eventually, we will all receive this advertisement, whereupon our browsers will display a JavaScript alert claiming that our machines are infected. Whether we choose to download this rogue software, decline, or exit the alert entirely, we will be forced to a website greatly resembling an anti-malware program's graphical user interface. I suggest declining twice, then exiting the tab or closing your browser. Supposedly, this infects your computer with the rogue software. But that is not supported by even the feeblest of logical fallacies. To download any file, your browser must connect to a server via File Transfer Protocol connection. FTP, unlike HTTP, transfers binary files from a server to one's hard drive. Every browser handles FTP connections by first confirming that you requested the connection; were this website to automatically begin a FTP connection, your browser would stop the connection until you confirm the download. HTTP, which will always return hypertext -- the protocol used to connect to any website -- cannot write anything upward of plain text files to one's hard drive.
