Is Ignorance Bad?

If ignorance is bliss, is bliss only found in ignorance? Ignorant: destitute of knowledge or education Whenever I ask people I know if ignorance is bad they normally say something like, "It's ignorance of course it's bad." Then that makes me think what is ignorance. If ignorance is the lack of knowledge, and its impossible to know everything that would make everyone ignorant. Since ignorance is considered bad, because ignorance causes people to come to conclusions that would harm others, then everyone is bad. But I don't think everyone is bad; so that makes the previous sentence false because it is an opinion and opinions can only be proven if everyone has the same opinion; since i have a different one its false. Since everyone is ignorant, and everyone isn't bad, therefore ignorance isn't bad. As for "Is bliss only found in ignorance" I give you these examples: Have you ever been stressed by worldly problems? To relieve this stress maybe you would watch T.V., play sports, talk to someone, play MapleStory; etc. Perhaps by doing these things to relieve stress, your ignoring the world around you. Perhaps by ignoring the world around you, your becoming ignorant of the world around you. Perhaps the happiness you get is from the ignorance. 2nd example: This one comes from personal experience. Maybe not knowing things makes life happier; if ignorance is bliss, then the more ignorant you are the happier you are. I once walked in on my Dad and his girlfriend and I thought to myself "I could of gone my whole life without seeing that." I definitely would have been happier not knowing that. So I ask you, If ignorance is bliss, then is bliss only found ignorance?

ignorance isn't bliss.. racism isn't bliss.. sexism isn't bliss.. I've actually asked some closer friends of mine a similar question. I think that..certain kinds of ignorance is bad..and other kinds aren't... For example, A little boy throwing a rock at someone, because they look different...Ignorance = bad.. Another, I don't know how to kill everyone I have problems with, and not get caught. (it's a lot of people) ignorance = good. That's just my opinion, ofcourse.

Ignorance is bliss. But it's not wise. What was that Greek word for the opposite of ignorance? It starts with an a and its opposite is hubris...

Ignorance is like greed. You need some of it, but too much will ruin you. Ignorance - You need some of it to keep yourself from learning too much; otherwise you'd go insane. But too much ignorance results in failure to learn at all. Greed - You need some of it for motivation and ambition and the need to survive. But too much only breeds hate and war.

It actually makes them more miserable if you see how they act. well when u said this immediately thought about how it was socially acceptable for a white person to discriminate against blacks, and they seemed pretty happy to me with all that hate brought up because they thought blacks were basically beneath them and didnt deserve to be treated as equals

Garysgreat : well when u said this immediately thought about how it was socially acceptable for a white person to discriminate against blacks, and they seemed pretty happy to me with all that hate brought up because they thought blacks were basically beneath them and didnt deserve to be treated as equals At the time there was barely any resistance against racism and they even sought justification in religion and legislation... so there was nobody to tell them racism was bad. :S
