| Hey Thieves of Basil, The reason I'm putting this here and not in the General section is because this problem seems to affect Thieves more than other classes and there is a lot of competition and insecurity within the Thief class itself. Damage Hoars are annoying. By Damage Hoars I don't mean people who only aim for high damage; I mean people who laugh at other people for having bad damage and constantly want to share equip info (and laugh at you when yours is worse than theirs). No matter what kind of Damage Hoar; statless or not, to me they all suck equally as much. There, I said it. On a forum like Basil it's hard to ignore them or deal with them because what's written here lasts and people will keep replying angrily to their posts, exactly giving the Damage Hoars what they want; they want to see you squirm and get angry. Warning: I'm pobably going to kick in some open doors here. The best way to beat a Damage Hoar (no, getting him banned or having someone "hack" his or her account isn't the best way in my opinion) is to not allow him or her victory. Let's not squirm, let's take their weapons away from them instead. I have a few tips that will help especially in game. - Firstly don't get mad when someone laughs at you for your damage; that's what the Damage Hoar's aiming for . - If you suspect someone's a bad-ass Damage Hoar slime . If s/he is told he has nice damage s/he'll feel flattered and will think you're a decent guy/girl. S/he's likely to reply "Nice level" or something (not related to damage) in return and will probably leave you alone. S/he won't have to flaunt his/her damage anymore because you've already acknowledged it's high. And if the person you assumed to be a Damage Hoar actually isn't one you'll have a performed another good deed. - While kissing that guy/girl's ass scream (or whisper if your Mom's around) some obscenity at the screen of your computer . It feels good. ;) - If a Damage Hoar has already started to show off his/her damage just compliment him and again s/he'll think you're decent and will probably leave you alone. - If someone passes by and declares for all to hear you're a noob (for whatever reason) I noticed the reply " I'm happy to be a noob if you're a pro. " works. They don't get annoyed enough to KS you, but they will think of you as stupid and not worth their time. (but we know better, right?) If you get KSed by someone there are a couple of ways to "have them removed" as well that doesn't include guilds, defames and things that are against the Terms of Service. Pay attention, Bandits. These can be used for every class. I, with my level 24 (Dagger) Rogue, managed to stop a guy who came to KS me with his Assassin, his Bandit and his Hermit (he hated my Male Face 1) using one of those techniques. - If you get KSed in a highly populated area humiliate him with words . The guy I mentioned brought in his Hermit all the way from NLC to KS me. When he arrived I told him: "I'm flattered that you brought your leve |
