As said by like, every teacher. They usually follow up with "ANYONE CAN EDIT IT." Sure, anyone can edit it, but if the information is false, or the user did not provide a source, the information is revoked and the page is reverted back to normal. Teachers, teachers, teachers. Get familiar with a website before criticizing it.

I get told this a lot, if someone edits an article falsely its usually gone within minutes too, I wish I could reference it.

I thinking Wikipedia should be used for gisting purposes but for research papers and such, go check out an online DB, like questia or whatever.

Wikiepedia has been studied and proven to be about as accurate, or more accurate than a regular encyclopedia. However, false information can be sourced and remain on their long enough for someone to put in their paper. Besides, researching isn't really that difficult.

Wikipedia is good for starting your research, just look at the citations at the bottom of the page; they have a ton of legit websites there.

Also a lot of people in Basil keep saying Wiki is an unreliable source. Then they go to wiki then edit some pages...

I would recommend using the links at the bottom of the wiki page, i.e. where the people got the information to put into the article. That way, you're expanding your sources, using [more] reliable information, and using more first-hand information.
