| well since i've seen a few threads asking which to get or which is better, i went to the playstation website and found this: http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Systems/120gb.html and http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Systems/80gb.html so the only difference i see is looks, so it comes down to personal preference (ignoring space difference) EDIT: I can post links? with only 4 positive feedback? |

| I would definitely go for the Slim model when I have the money. The new finish is fingerprint free, and is less prone to scratches. |

| Slim is less money, smaller, has more memory, and some stuff that I forgot. But I am sooper sad that it doesn't have backwards compatibility. I want to play Kingdom Hearts. |

| I still have my ps2 so not having backwards compatibility is no issue for me |

| Hell, you could buy a PS3 Slim and a PS2 Slimline for the price of what the 80GB [40GB smaller than the coming-soon Slim] PS3 fat used to be. All in all, this price cut is what Sony should have done years ago. |

| Lets see $299 for the fat one with only 80g or the kick ass slim that sets terrorists on fire for $299? |

Hell they still can't afford this price cut unless they are getting super good deals on the parts to make the PS3. I hate people who think Sony made the price that high just because. They were trying to make a little profit. OT: Slim looks nice IMO but the stand is a waste of $24. |

Yeah the Slim can stand just fine without the stand, since most of the weight is toward the bottom while standing. They can now afford the price cuts, since I think with their new manufacturing procedures and materials they brought the manufacturing price to around 200 bucks. It used to be over twice that. |

Last Christmas to make the PS3 was roughly $450 to manufacture.. Their is no way they reduced the price down to $200. And when it came out at $700 it was the cheapest Blu-ray player out there, and the only reason I would buy a PS3 is for Blu-Ray because Sony won't let it become out dated. |

| Seitarou : My bad, $240. Pretty impressive. Even though $60 profit isn't much but its more they what they were getting. I'm guessing they toke out some "useless" components to do this? I wonder if it will have some failures because of the cheaper parts. IMO Nintendo is the only one making good profit. Roughly $80 a Wii. How much does an Xbox cost to make, and I heard they just dropped the Pro model to $230 to sell out the last of them before they discontinue the model. |

| I'd go with the slim. It has a matte finish, so no finger prints. And who wouldn't want more space (HDD and Room Space wise)? Also, the fans on both systems are equally as quiet. IT STILL DOESN'T HAVE TO USE A POWER BRICK (lolol 360). If I already didn't have a PS3, I'd wait for the Slim. I do like the chrome and shininess of the Fat PS3 though (: The stand isn't necessary btw. |
