What exactly does spark do? And is it worth not maxing Shockwave for it? Or energy drain? And on that note how beneficial is energy drain? Thanks

Sparks is an amazing skill. I regret not starting on it sooner. Whenever you attack a monster, a Chain Lightning thing will hit 3 more monsters around it. Each hit is an extra 120% (I think) damage, so you really end up getting a bonus 360% in every attack. Shockwave is useless as it is so slow, and Sharkwave is much better. It is definately advised to skip Shockwave and get Sparks. Each hit of Sparks also counts towards your Energy Charge, so you should be charging twice as fast with Sparks, giving you the benefits of Charge more (Extra Avoid, Accuracy, Attack, Touch Damage, and Stance effects). Energy Drain is also really useful. I got a point into it at level 71 and don't regret it. Even with level 1 Drain, it has helped reduce my HP Potion Costs by half. With maxed Drain, you'll only need 3 or so hits to heal. Drain also does pretty good damage (360%) and is REALLY fast. You should definately max this out, as then you can save a LOT of potion money. Shockwave is entirely useless as it does less DPS than Sharkwave, has less range (I believe), and is so slow that you get hit a lot more often. It also requires Transformation which you can only be in 1/3 of the time. All in all, get 1 point in it for fun if you'd like and max out Critical, Sharks, Sparks, Drain, Transform (For Mobility), Barrage, and Wind Booster. =)

Level 10: Lightning Sprite (1) Level 11-17: Sommersault Kick (M); Quick Motion (1) Level 18-20: Quick Motion (M) Level 21-27: Straight (M); Dash (1) Level 28-30: Dash (M) Level 30: Max HP Increase (1) Level 31-33: Max HP Increase (9) Level 34-40: Mastery (19); Energy Charge (2) Level 41-43: Booster (7); Corkscrew Blow (2) Level 44-49: Corkscrew Blow (M) Level 50-55: Energy Charge (M) Level 56-62: Energy Blast (M); Booster (1) Level 63: Booster (3) Level 64-70: Lightning Charge (M); Mastery (1) Level 70: Crit Fist (1) Level 71-77: Crit Fist (M); Drain (2) Level 78-79: Drain (5); Sharkwave (2) Level 80-89: Sharkwave (M); Sparks (2) Level 90-95: Sparks (M) Level 96-102: Save SP (15); Barrage (Max it using saved SP and the 5 SP you get from 101 and 102); Save SP (1) Level 103-110: Save SP (24); Booster (Max it using 9 SP you saved); Wind Booster (11); Transform (4) Level 111-112: Transform (M) Level 113-120: Energy Drain (M); Wind Booster (9); Shockwave (2) But since you said Shockwave is a pretty useless attack, should I just put the extra 2 SPs on my Sprite instead?

People think that Shockwave is useless because it is slow, but it's actually a mid-speed attack. And it's spammable. However, you should still NOT max it, because all of your other mobbing skills are much faster and some of them give you temporary invincibility. Shockwave leaves you vulnerable for about a second and a half (which is pretty nasty, seeing that you can't repot while attacking.) Plus you can only use it while Transformed. Shockwave is a powerful but risky and limited attack, but Sparks adds a LOT of extra damage to ALL of your other attacks. This is especially useful when using Barrage, as it's a 100% OHKO on most monsters. The Striker build ends up with everything maxed EXCEPT shockwave, as it's, in total, the least useful skill.

I see, so it's better to max spark before energy drain? And why get energy drain to 5 rather than 1? I don't see how much more beneficial it is at that level

YTjohnmichael : Okay so this is the build I'm going to do. Level 10: Lightning Sprite (1) Level 11-17: Sommersault Kick (M); Quick Motion (1) Level 18-20: Quick Motion (M) Level 21-27: Straight (M); Dash (1) Level 28-30: Dash (M) Level 30: Max HP Increase (1) Level 31-33: Max HP Increase (9) Level 34-40: Mastery (19); Energy Charge (2) Level 41-43: Booster (7); Corkscrew Blow (2) Level 44-49: Corkscrew Blow (M) Level 50-55: Energy Charge (M) Level 56-62: Energy Blast (M); Booster (1) Level 63: Booster (3) Level 64-70: Lightning Charge (M); Mastery (1) Level 70: Crit Fist (1) Level 71-77: Crit Fist (M); Drain (2) Level 78-79: Drain (5); Sharkwave (2) Level 80-89: Sharkwave (M); Sparks (2) Level 90-95: Sparks (M) Level 96-102: Save SP (15); Barrage (Max it using saved SP and the 5 SP you get from 101 and 102); Save SP (1) Level 103-110: Save SP (24); Booster (Max it using 9 SP you saved); Wind Booster (11); Transform (4) Level 111-112: Transform (M) Level 113-120: Energy Drain (M); Wind Booster (9); Shockwave (2) But since you said Shockwave is a pretty useless attack, should I just put the extra 2 SPs on my Sprite instead? Ah no! That is NOT a very good build. Your first job is alright, though personally I prefer Sprite to Dash. However, Dash is also alright to have. Your second job is kind of messed up, imo. You end up maxing Blast at level 62. More than 11 Blast is USELESS from 60-70 anyways, as you can 1HKO at MP3 with 11 just fine, assuming you are decent. Also, you max Corkscrew way too early, when 1-6 is perfectly fine, and get Lightning way too late. There are two different plausible builds: Accepted 2nd Job Build -MAX HP Increase -1 Corkscrew, 2 Mastery -17 Mastery (19) -Booster (Get as much as you feel is okay for now. I thought that below 11 was really annoying, but to each his own) -Energy Charge (Minimum 2, but get as much as you like) -11 Energy Blast (It attacks 3 targets at this point) -MAX Lightning Charge (Truckers and Slimys are both Lightning weak, so this is a must. It also does 120% damage on any monster) -MAX Energy Blast (This gives you a nice and powerful Blast, so you can 1HKO at MP3 at Truckers earlier) -MAX Energy Charge (To use Blast more often. This can be mixed in with maxing Blast until you think it charges fast enough) -MAX Corkscrew (For more mobility and starter damage. Some more Cork can be mixed in before this; I reccommend 3-6) -Booster (Get it to 11) -MAX Mastery My 2nd Job Build MAX HP Increase -1 Corkscrew, 2 Mastery -17 Mastery (19) -Booster (Get as much as you feel is okay for now. I thought that below 11 was really annoying, but to each his own) -Energy Charge (For its helpful effects) -MAX Lightning Charge (Lets you be more effective at Truckers sooner.) -11 Energy Blast (11 Blast is nice and powerful. It'll let you 1HKO Truckers and MP3 when you move onto them) -MAX Energy Charge (Finsih it up for nicer effects and faster charging) -MAX Corkscrew (For more mobility and starter damage. Some more Cork can

@AltairHawk: I didn't max the sprite because people say it is very useless once you reach level 30. Also, dash makes moving faster a bit. But yeah I will follow the build that you told me. Thanks!
Musec 08/25/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
You can only use Energy Drain when you have Energy Charge "charged". Example of Sparks Level 1: You hit a monster with flash fist, and sparks will hit 2 more monsters, which means 1 flash fist = hitting 3 monsters.

Lol, Shockwave isn't a useless attack at all. i do about 50k shockwaves on my TB, + spark it does alot of damage. once you have speed infusion+booster, all of your attacks are pretty fast. energy drain = useless, Max out these for 3rd job: Sharkwave/Shockwave/Transform/Critical/Barrage/Speed infusion/Sparks. energy drain is a waste, i would rather max my dash.

YTjohnmichael : @AltairHawk: I didn't max the sprite because people say it is very useless once you reach level 30. Also, dash makes moving faster a bit. But yeah I will follow the build that you told me. Thanks! Well, imo it never becomes useless and summons are always fun. However, I can understand wanting Dash for easier movement. I might consider getting it at the end of 3rd job. Out of curiosity, which 2nd job build are you following? The "accepted" one, or my build?
YTjohnmichael + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
LOL, your 2nd job build is the same as the accepted build, and it does look really cool. And when you max the sprite, what is the maximum damage it can do?
