Anyone do Martial Arts?

I'll make a bet, I'll bet that this page cannot exceed fifteen pages because 95% of basil don't know martial arts and won't bother to enter this thread It sounds harsh, but that's the cruel reality of it all. Do you do martial arts? WELCOME! As a hobby? as a huge life force in your...well.. life? Well, post your background if you do! I do Tae Kwon Do, 2nd degree blackbelt, getting 3rd degree in Februar and I recently qualified for a International Spain tournament, which from there, I'll proceed to train for the Olympics! Anyone else as hardcore? That's fine. Now please, avoid hating on someone else's Martial arts or making stupid and ridiculous claims like Chuck norris or MMA beats all... It's always about the fighter and not the style. Always. Or feel free to flaunt all you want that you'd beat up anyone because how much you work out, or you're on the football team, or you have a gun *yawn* If you don;t do Martial arts, leave now! Nah, just kidding, here is a list of Martial arts you can learn depending on where you're from. If you're Korean, learn Tae Kwon Do. If you're Chinese, learn Kung Fu. If you're Japanese, learn Karate or Jujitsu. If you're Taiwanese, learn Baj�qu�n. If you're Thai, learn Muay Thai. If you're Vietnamese, learn Vovinam If you're Malaysian, learn Silat. If you're Phillipino, learn Eskrima. If you're Portuguese, learn Vale Tudo. If you're Irish, learn Speach�ireacht. If you're Indian, learn Kalarippayattu. If you�re Indonesian, learn Pencak Silat. If you're Israeli, learn Krav Maga If you're Russian, learn Combat Sambo. If you're French, learn Savate. If you�re Brazilian or African American, learn Capoeira. If you�re Mexican or Spanish, learn Lucha. If you�re American, go do what you do on the streets.

@ Rhanmaru - im glad i piqued your interest! when u say come back to, what were u practicing befor? welcome back! @ Kharma - if you get a good capoiera sifu, you'll be one happy epik! Combat sambo is very unusual to be found in the US, if you were srs about learning it, only Russian military/ specific training ares provide high quality teaching @bugak - woo! another thai!, sorry to say that i never heard of xtc, but then again, Im not hardcore thai. but all that ammters is the amount of training and love you put into the art! who cares if the gym is totally obscure!

I don't know more than half the world's arts o_O If you read my previous posts, I'm just dissapointed with the way mcdojos transformed usa urban communities... Im sorry if I offended you lol, my definition of hardcore is anything that isn't mcdojo and competing a ton!

It's not hard to go on wikipedia and see nearly every martial art listed including the list of ones in southern China and northern China. @TS: Congratz on your qualification. I'm currently learning Wing Chun and only have my first sash >_o. There's 4 sashes in total, but there's a key & certificate you need to qualify and pass to be able to go to the next sash. I wanna take Wing Chun + TKD at the same time T_T. I don't think my instructor would let me though..

All I can remember off the top of my head is that it's a mixture of boxing and light/fancy footwork.

What makes a martial art hardcore or not? It depends on the person training.

All you need is the hard work and training and passion you put into it and you will become a great fighter! Be careful not to become toooooo capricious though @dada - i do both, however, after Spain, I will probably focus more on WTF styles in order to famaliarize myself with olympic settings Oh it is awesome :O too bad we don't do much running around and fitness =[. I have 2 friends that do TKD but I don't remember what one they do. I only remember 1 of them does the more offensive style of TKD (ITF?) and I haven't asked my other friend. You know what sucks? Not having a friend at school who also does martial arts whose also really interested in it like me.
