 | Tired of worrying about keyloggers, spyware and malware? Read the following tips on how to keep your computer safer from keyloggers, spyware, virii, etc. If any of you have any other tips, submit them below and I might add them to this list. • First of all, get Firefox . Firefox is safer than Internet Explorer because it doesn't use ActiveX plugins, which is commonly how keyloggers and other malware (spyware, etc) are installed. Your computer won't ever be 100% safe, but it'll be much safer if you're browsing with FireFox. • One of the first things I download on a new computer is Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware Personal . These two free programs keep your computer clean of known keyloggers, spyware, malware and other nasty programs. Just like you might clean your car every once in awhile, you would do well to get in the habit of running these two programs. They will keep your computer clean and happy. • For virus protection, use the popular and free AVG AntiVirus . • Mindstormer also recommends Avast for virus protection, adding that it takes up slightly more memory but has at times been more succesful at removing some trojans that AVG doesn't. Your mileage may vary. • You can always put your mouse over a link on our forums to see exactly what a site is. If you're unsure whether it's safe, visit McAfee SiteAdvisor and check to see if the site is listed. Admittedly, not all of the newest sites will be in siteadvisor, but you can use it as a good reference. You can also get more help of this kind in Mindstormer's Tech Help thread.
