Sometimes randomly when I am on basil it redirects me to some page that doesn't load and then my AVG says it has a threat detected. This ONLY happens when I am on Basil, not any other site. Anyone know why this is happening? The website that it is going to is called like "professional Malware Scan.com" Also should I be worried about the safety of my accounts?

Download and install Firefox. Download and install the Adblock and NoScript add-ons. Ta-dum.

Scan your computer. You probably got a malware from one of the ads. I personally use MalwareByte's Anti-Malware. Works pretty well and is freee.

For some reason it always freezes up then won't reopen until I restart my computer. I even tried to end process the not working firefox and it just didn't do anything. I hate vista.

Have you tried googling a solution to that freeze-up problem?

Nah its my mom's computer and she is happy using opera so thats what I use too. Her computer is crap -_- It randomly turns off like 5 times a day too. Even when it doesn't feel very hot and it doesn't give any warning or restart it just turns off.

Ok seeing as half the people here have very little computer knowledge, Im going to tell you straight off that Im a qualified computer technician. Unless Basilmarket has been hacked into (which it hasnt), its impossible for it to give you a website. Why would Mr Basil upload a virus onto his server? If youre being redirected to other websites, it sounds like you have malware . Click here for help. I would direct you to some good software, but I havnt got malware in 4? years so I dont know any off the top of my head. Plus its midnight and Ive been studying for the past 4 hours. EDIT: @above poster: Its not from Meebo either.

EDIT: @above poster: Its not from Meebo either. I too am a qualified computer technician as you put it. And I experienced something similar with basil for the first time last night. My anti-virus blocked a threat coming from an _advertisement_ on basil. So no, of course mr. b wouldn't upload a virus, but he also doesn't have the capacity to scan every ad himself since it's provided by another server. The solution of course is for mr. b to start purchasing his ads from a reputable source, such as google. @topic starter : as long as your anti-virus said it blocked it, I wouldn't worry about it. You could consider an ad-blocker add-on for opera if one exists as people have suggested.

I'm thinking basil does have some sort of virus. My firefox got corrupt yesterday with none of the bookmarks working EXCEPT basil. Also, I couldn't save history, delete cookies or do anything with firefox. all my bookmarks went blank and the only thing that was fully working was basilmarket.com

angramainyu Aug 22 2009 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Websitescannot simply inject code into your computer. Follow my guide. @ kartik7 I hate to be so harsh, but that was just genuinely not thought out. I think SQL injection may be a little over your head; unless BasilMarket is loading its source code from the database, which it cannot because BasilMarket doesn't use .php pages, then it is simply not possible to hack BasilMarket's source via SQL injection. Moreover, since SQL injection just doesn't work, that defense was pretty feeble. @ ZappyPants When you can quote any part of Meebo's source as something that might be malicious, that'll be a legitimate proposition. @ Devie Mr. Basil is using Google AdSense, I believe. @ Everyone accusing BasilMarket of injecting code into someone's machine without logical argument http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP @ Thread Starter For future reference, use the tech section. Many answers provided there are backed up by proof, or at the very least, logic.

Basilmarket does not give Viruses. Other sites do. Especially if you search for adult content.
