| This is for a Biology summer project. I need help on trying to find a place where evolution is prominent. An area where organisms changed to adapt to their environment. Also could you tell me examples of plants and animals that have evolved in that particular area. Also where is natural selection prominent? |

| Human skin colour is a prime example, the darker the skin colour is for blocking out harmful UV rays, the lighter the skin colour is for absorbing UV in extreme northern climates. Thats why white people who live in the tropics or sub tropics get freckles, also why white people are the ones who mostly get skin cancer, their skin is adapted to cold climates where there is not much UV. But also why darker skin people get vitamin D deficiancy in extreme northern or southern climates. |

Technically evolution comes from adaptation, and the reason people living where it was always sunny are darker skinned is because of the concentration of melanin in the skin. It's believed that the darker skin colours help ward off skin cancers and even prevent sunburns, and this amount of melanin was even implanted into the genes of the parents, so their child would normally have the same, or similar skin pigmentation from relation to both of the parents. As people moved away from these areas, or moved into them, their melanin levels changed, along with multi-racial marriage and coupling, made for new skin pigments and hybrids from both of the genes of parents. |
