Well, the build is (I know Inferno is maxed): 10 Thrust 5 Mortal Blow 28 Inferno 28 Arrow Rain 30 Silver Hawk (30 looks cooler =P and 28 Inferno and Arrow Rain is more neat IMO) 30 Strafe 20 Puppet I know Inferno is there but I really think Mortal Blow and Inferno are not important skills. The situation where Mortal Blow shines, when a monster spawns on you, is not very common and I've realized that when it spawns directly on top of you, you get hit anyway at times - I prefer adding another skill =P Also, a Maxed Inferno would prove not just a lure but a powerful lure XD Well, I'd like to know what you think of it =P

spiritrivalThat's an okay build. I wouldn't recommend it much, but it's good.

Stellar : I know Inferno is there but I really think Mortal Blow and Inferno are not important skills. Err, confusion :D but I think that the 2 points in Arrow Rain or more useful than the 2 points in Inferno and so what if it is neat or not, pfft :P Otherwise, this is very much like my build, with less MB but more eagle and w/e else. (Confusing, but w/e)

OK, from personal experience, inferno is essentially useless. Ever since they patched arrow bomb, inferno is only better against fire weak mobs(note that arrow bomb, for some strange reason, has a different critical formula) and so the only reason to have it would be if you want to train at fire weak mobs(regret path?). I highly regret getting more than 1 point, I would much rather have the speed boost from thrust. As it is, I am now going back and putting points in thrust(cause lets face it, who cares about lvling phoenix and hamstring).

take out 1 point from eagle, 1 point from stafe, 12 from inferno, and you've got yourself a perfect build, maxing thrust is a good idea

Inferno's useless.. If I could go back I'd leave it at 21 and put the points in thrust. I haven't used it at all since I left typhons other than for fun on fire weaks. 20 MB is a must in my opinion, you're gonna have skeles spawning in your face and bow whacking cancels hawk's stun.
Verdeiwsp 08/18/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
I suggest not putting much in inferno, because inferno is basically useful for luring monsters away from you near you for close range(rain arrow) like Typhons. Mortal blow is important, but you shouldn't put that much. Maybe 15 points or more. Something good is that it can KO an enemy if maxed with a 10% rate while the chance of hitting enemy in your face at a 50% chance rate. Thrust is good in combat, because you can't kill while using a hog. I think you max out puppet and strafe, and not silver hawk. At 4th job, fire pheonix takes over silver hawk, and I heard silver hawk hits weak, but the stunning can prove annoying for those fighting at typhons.

I'd imagine MB would be essential if a skelegon or something spawned on you. It destroys one of the weakest points of a bowman - what more could you want? Max MB. It prevents all non-boss monsters from basically hitting you. As others have mentioned, there isn't much point in maxing Inferno. If you really want a respectable level, then just go level 16 for it's extra range. But even then, most higher levels don't really need the extra range, and apparently it's useless. THAT BEING SAID, 10 thrust adds 20 speed. From a speed pill and MoN, that's almost max speed. So no more points will be needed to add to that. Perhaps you could get level 16 Inferno and level 20 MB without ruining your speed later on... Make sure you want to max Inferno. Some might say that damage isn't everything, but you already have a skill that covers inferno.

I saw a BM training in Oblivion Guardians, Mortal Blow didn't even activate once - no monsters spawned on top of the guy. But, I've seen Skelegon videos where Mortal Blow activates and you still get hit so both seem useless. From my personal experience, it seems like Mortal Blow is only good because it's better than hitting 300 with a bow whack.

Mortal blow over inferno is a better move, during my 3rd job i was able to max every ranger skill but inferno leaving it only at 1(recommend this)

From my personal experience, it seems like Mortal Blow is only good because it's better than hitting 300 with a bow whack. The main reason you would want MB is so that you can get a monster that spawns on you away from you so you can DP it, without unstunning it. It also does a far better job of KBing the monster than bowwhacking does. About Time Temple - I would think that, since the monsters are so far spread apart, by the time you get to other monsters, they would have already respawned. Maybe, but who knows.
CtrlPlusZ 08/19/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Imo, Mortal Blow is most useful for avoiding a physical attack to a monster, which would cancel its stun. It looks like you understand that lv 28 Inferno will be about as good as lv 1 Inferno, so why do you want to add points into it?
Stellar Aug 19 2009 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Both Mortal Blow and Inferno are practically useless right? Mortal Blow does 15k or something as opposed to a 300 damage bow whack. Inferno is just a lure -> a powerful lure if maxed? @above, Mortal Blow tends to be more of a counter since it auto activates and the fact that you hit the monster first before it hits you (I had MB activate, I hit the monster but I got hit afterwards).

i recommend maxing MB over getting inferno to 28. why? cause once you get to Bm you'll realize that with hurricane's low kb ability for the early 120's and up to mid 130's(depends on your build choice) that monsters with high Kb tend to keep walking towards you. and from personal exp that 7k~15k MB shot will not only Kb but do significant dmg. also sometimes I've noticed is that hawks stun (i.e. at newties) doesn't seem to take instant effect sometimes with nest golems and thus they will keep walking in what ever direction they were going, so that kb tends to help alot. Also unless the mobs ice, arrow bomb does better not only dmg wise but it stuns too. Edit: theres also the neat thing about MB where it's insta-ko happens AFTER the initial hit. so in example you hit the monster and its hp falls below the half way point because of the hit, it may just die cause of the effect of MB.
