Just a little vernacular clarification. noob =/= jerk. A noob is a person who does something stupid or wrong, WITHOUT knowing what the right thing to do is. An example of this is a person going into a party quest without knowing what to do at all. That person would be a noob . A jerk is someone who knows exactly what to do but does the opposite because he's mean, upset, annoying, etc. An example of this would be a person kill-stealing even after you ask them to change channels repeatedly. I hope that henceforth Basil learns to properly identify and label noobs from jerks. I just though this needed to be said.

Jesus Christ. I wish those two words never existed. Why can't we just call them "New Players" or "Unexperienced Maplers"? Takes two seconds to write it.

I think you guys ^^^^^ are right. I think Newb is the proper definition for somebody who doesn't know how to do something, since newb comes from newbie, and noob...doesnt come from noobie o.o... or does it.

noob however is one player who has been a newb, and played it for awhile and still don't understand the game. when i mean awhile, then i mean for 1-2months. people who dont know/can't play and still suck(sorry french) is a noob

Newb is short for the word Newbie, or Neophyte, meaning relatively new or inexperienced at something. Gamers took that word and created noob to *at first) mean the same thing, then more and more people got 'power-crazy' over the years and now the definition for Noob IS someone who is a jerk or an asshole. Get your facts straight BEFORE trying to sound smart, please and thanks.

Just because you've found one source (wikipedia, that can be edited by nearly ANYBODY), doesn't prove you correct, you idiot. math? Math has nothing to do with it. Grow up.
