Do scrolled items stay scrolled after being upgraded?

I'm pretty sure (like 100%) that this question has been answered numerous times, but i have no idea what i would have to search for as a keyword in threads, and the scrolling guide didn't have much except for scrolling percentages. So, for example, if I have a scrolled garnier and then upgrade it to a meba or some such, will the meba have those scrolls' effects? Thanks for any help.
